Continue ReadingTo say the past month has been a blur for Orange Park Ridgeview head football coach Bryan Arnette would be an understatement.
Arnette took over from Matt Knauss, who had guided the team from 1-9 to a winning season in one year. He left right in the middle of spring and things have not slowed down since for Arnette and this football team.
What Arnette has to work with is a team that finished 7-4 during the pandemic season of 2020, and while they were up and down, had some quality moments.
While the Panthers won a playoff game against Tavares (38-20), the season came to an end against Ocala power Vanguard, 35-0.
This summer will be like a crash course of getting everyone on the same page and using events and workouts to keep the focus on the season ahead.
Having a winning season always signals that you are doing things right, and that’s exactly what the coaching staff wants to play on – the positives. Those wins over Jacksonville Wolfson, Middleburg, rival Orange Park, Gainesville Eastside and St. Augustine Menendez.
The focus also needs to be on the losses as well, learning from what went wrong.
The senior class (2022) is where the spotlight will fall – with prospects such as Darryl Carter (LB/FB – 2.74 GPA), Quashay Frazier (WR – 3.12), Isaiah Gamble (WR/CB, 6-0, 175 – 2.83), Ben Gardiner (QB, 6-1, 171), Oliver Mathurin (DE), Gavin McCormack (DE, 6-1, 185 – 3.2 GPA) and defensive lineman Derrick Mosley Derrick Mosley DL Orange Park Ridgewood | 2022 FL (DT/NT, 5-8, 245 – 2.87 GPA).
The 2022 class also features Michael Robinson (CB), Fabian Thompson (OLB – 3.51 GPA), Miika Tuisano (LB/FB – 2.6 GPA), Jerry Vil (DB – 2.64 GPA), Eddie Whipple Eddie Whipple WR Daytona Beach Father Lopez Duncan | 2022 FL (Athlete, 6-1, 187) and outside linebacker Jervae Wilson (6-3 – 2.5 GPA).
CLASS OF 2023 TALENT IS THERE
If this program is to maintain winning and getting to that next level under Arnette and this staff, the Panthers will need help from the underclassmen.
Class of 2023 prospects will get some long looks this summer during workouts and other events – such as 7-on-7 tournaments and team camps.
Among the juniors to keep an eye Isaac Alexandre (RB – 2.89 GPA), Chris Baptiste (WR, 5-7, 140 – 3.94 GPA), Peyton Boyette (OG – 2.88 GPA), Franklin Brown (DB), Napoleon Cion (DE, 6-0, 171 – 2.78 GPA), Wesley Langley (K, 5-10, 140 – 3.9 GPA) and versatile Drew Leonard (WR/CB – 3.77 GPA).
Also, keep an on big-time line prospects Trevonte Ligon (OT/DT, 6-5, 285) and Christopher Marcelin (DT, 6-3, 280 – 2.82 GPA) – as well as Steven Morelus (CB/WR, 5-7, 150 – 2.73 GPA), Bo Myrick (QB, 6-0, 165), Kristian Russell Kristian Russell 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Orange Park Ridgeview | 2023 FL (DB, 6-0, 170) and Nasir Tillman (QB).
