The Macon/Warner Robins area is home to some impressive programs and has produced some elite talent in recent years both on offense and defense. Middle Georgia is where you’ll find some of the top defensive lineman in the state currently, and many of them have a knack for getting after the quarterback.
Here are some of the top pass-rushers to know in Middle Georgia for the 2021 season…
Vic Burley – Warner Robins
The 5-star from Warner Robins is one of the top pass rushers not only in Georgia, but in the entire country for the 2023 class. The elite defensive end has great size at 6-foot-5 265-pounds and is coming off an excellent sophomore season last year where he got to the QB 11 times. He can rush the passer, he can get off blocks, and he knows how to set the edge against the run. He already looks like a college defender and still has two more years of high school ball to continue adding weight and develop as an overall defender. In addition to his 11 sacks, Burley made 56 tackles and 21 TFLs. He can do it all on the edge and has the offers to back it up. Burley will be able to play for the school of his choosing when the time comes, holding offers from Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Florida, and just about everywhere else. Look for him to have a monster junior season in hopes of leading the Demons back to the state championship game.
Zavian Hardy – Tattnall Square
If there’s one lineman in the area who has blown up this spring, it’s the outside linebacker from Macon. The jumbo 6-foot-5 235-pound ATH can play on both sides of the ball but will likely play on the edge at the next level as he continues to add weight and develop his craft over the next two years. What stands out the most about Hardy is his raw athleticism for someone his size. He’s big and fast enough to play some tight end, but his explosiveness and burst off the line of scrimmage should make him a fast-riser in the 2023 rankings over the next few months. He’s a dominant player in the private-school region in Middle Georgia and has the film to back up the early hype. Look for Hardy to see more offers come his way over the next few weeks. He has ideal length for a pass rusher off the edge and can explode off the ball and get into the backfield with ease. He’s tough for opposing lineman to get a hand on, and if he continues to develop this summer, Hardy could be one of the state’s leading sack leaders in 2021.
Kenwan Felton – Macon County
Macon County has produced one of the NFL’s best current linebackers in Chicago Bears star Roquan Smith, and they have another pass-rushing machine currently on the roster in rising senior, Kenwan Felton. Unlike most pass-rushers, when Felton comes close to the QB, he finds a way to make the sack. The 6-foot-2 210-pounder totaled 16 sacks on the season and made just 12 QB hurries. So when he went after the QB, he usually got there. He’s not the biggest pass rusher in the area, but he was absolutely one of the most productive. He has a long, lean frame that helped him get around the tackle with ease. He’s quick off the ball, he uses his hands well to get off blocks, and he showed great pursuit of the QB. Look for him to lead the region in sacks once again as a senior this fall.
