As the summer began, head coach Matt Kitchie and his football team prepared for the upcoming season by working hard and making sure that the season-ending 35-0 playoff loss to Sarasota Riverview was fresh in everyone’s mind.
That loss, along with a few others that stung along the way will indeed serve as a reminder how far this talented team has to go.
Despite wins over Tampa Plant, Tampa Alonso, Haines City and Riverview, Coach Kitchie and this program will make sure that every year, this program makes progress.
In order to make those strides, this team needs to continue leaning on the seniors, and this 2022 class has some impressive talent that will not only lead, but be there to make a solid impact as well.
Among those seniors will be all-around standout Gavin Henley (QB, 6-1, 175 – 4.0 GPA), versatile Braylon Henry (LB, 5-10, 195 – 4.7 GPA), gifted playmaker Chauncey Jones III (RB, 5-10, 205 – 2.55 GPA), Ha’Keem Monroe (FS/WR, 6-3, 185 – 3.1 GPA), Dominick Murphy Dominick Murphy RB Lennard | 2022 FL (LB, 5-9, 220 – 3.01 GPA) and quality outside linebacker Jacob Treese (6-3, 185 – 4.0 GPA).
KEEP AN EYE ON THE UNDERCLASSMEN
If the Longhorns are to keep pace in the race for a district playoff spot, the underclassmen will be vital for this program.
Class of 2023 standouts such as A.J. Hills (Athlete, 5-9, 160 – 2.7 GPA), Draiden Neidige (RB/WR, 6-1, 175 – 4.0 GPA), Tyler Russell (Athlete, 5-10, 185) and receiver Eelijah Singleton (5-10, 155 – 2.5 GPA) are going to be special. So are Class of 2024 prospects Lleydon Brush (LB, 6-0, 180 – 4.0 GPA) and versatile Zeshon Casimir (RB/SS, 5-9, 180 – 4.0 GPA).
