That loss brought to an end a four-game winning streak that the Tigers had put together and finished the pandemic season at 5-4.
That loss – with a few other setbacks – put this program in a position where there were some key talent coming back for 2021, and plenty of optimism came along with it.
As the summer began the focus was certainly on a group of seniors in the 2022 class.
Among those that this team will look to include Jadon Gowins (Safety/RB, 5-9, 180), Ty Englehart (QB/WR, 6-3, 185), Thomas Nargi (OLB/QB) and versatile Larry Edgecombe (OLB/RB, 5-10, 165).
UNDERCLASSMEN WILL BE COUNTED ON
As some of the seniors are expected to step up and take a leadership role, Coach Hicks and a group of underclassmen are also ready to make a contribution.
Among those are Class of 2023 kicker/punter Jackson Fain Jackson Fain 6'0" | 200 lbs | P Melbourne Holy Trinity | 2023 FL (6-0, 200), and Class of 2024 talent Dayday Farmer (WR/CB, 6-0, 160) and Cole McNab (OLB/QB, 5-9, 160).
BRANFORD LOOKS TO TAKE IT ONE STEP FURTHER
When Branford ended the 2020 season with a 7-2 record, the Buccaneers felt pretty good about the summer and what the off-season would bring for his senior class.
While head coach Tim Clark and his team have plenty of younger talent, the emphasis in the off-season was on the Class of 2022.
With a number of prospects returning, the focus on this 2022 class will be important moving forward.
The key wins over Williston, Bell, Jacksonville Bishop Snyder, Jacksonville Joshua Christian Academy, Interlachen and Trenton will go a long way in getting this program one step further in 2021.
Among the seniors that this team will feature includes Kyson Johnson (QB/RB/LB, 6-2, 210 – 3.72 GPA, 1080 SAT), Adrik Miller (WR/DB, 5-10, 160 – 3.59 GPA, 1040 SAT), Devin Mosley (LB/OL, 6-5, 225 – 2.9 GPA, 880 SAT), Will Phillips (OL/DL, 5-10, 245 – 2.68 GPA, 800 SAT), Matt Warren (LB/OL, 6-1, 240 – 3.47 GPA, 790 SAT) and versatile Bodhi White (RB/DB, 5-9, 175 – 3.02 GPA – 770 SAT).
