No matter what position it is, you can find elite prospects in Atlanta, Cobb County, Gwinnett County, and even up in the North Georgia mountains. The area is absolutely LOADED in the 2022 class, and many are ranked towards the top of the Prep Redzone rankings.
Here are the top 4 prospects to know in North Georgia…
Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA – ATH – Collins Hill
The best overall athlete in the entire country, the Gwinnett County star from Suwanee has some of the best ball skills you’ll find in the entire country. The five-star FSU commit isn’t the biggest guy at 6-foot-1 165-pounds, but he plays much bigger than his size. Not only is he an outstanding cornerback prospect, but he’s a threat to score on offense every time he touches the ball. Hunter was unstoppable at wide receiver last season, leading the entire state in receiving with 137 catches for 1,746 yards and 24 touchdowns. He’s explosive, twitchy, and proved he’s an incredible route-runner who can create separation against any defensive back in the country. On defense, Hunter made 51 tackles and intercepted 8 passes. He’s a true do-it-all athlete who should make an instant impact for the Seminoles as a freshman in 2022. Look for him to be one of the state’s biggest playmakers once again for the Eagles as a senior this fall.
Gunner Stockton Gunner Stockton 6'1" | 220 lbs | QB Rabun County | 2022 State GA – QB – Rabun County
Nobody is producing elite QBs like the state of Georgia right now, and Stockton is the next big-time QB prospect to come out in the 2022 class. The 6-foot-0 220-pound gunslinger is on the verge of rewriting the history books in the state of Georgia as he’s about to start his fourth year as a starter this fall. The elite gunslinger is coming off an incredible junior season where he accounted for 71 total touchdowns. He threw for 3,128 yards and 45 touchdowns while adding 1,581 yards and 26 touchdowns on the ground. He’s incredibly accurate and has one of the strongest arms in the country. He’s such a dynamic player and can take off and run as well as any QB in the country. He has a high football IQ, excellent footwork and pocket presence, but most importantly, Stockton makes plays. He’s a rare talent and on pace to break the career passing mark in Georgia this fall as a senior. Stockton has a bright future ahead of him at the University of Georgia.
Malaki Starks Malaki Starks 6'1" | 195 lbs | ATH Jefferson | 2022 State GA – ATH – Jefferson
Like Hunter, Starks is one of the elite athletes in the entire country, and he’s also from North Georgia. Jefferson is an impressive program outside of Athens, and Starks may be the best player to come out of the area in years. The dual-sport star is an incredible athlete who could play WR or DB at the next level due to his 6-foot-1 200-pound frame, ball skills, and natural instincts. He led Jefferson all the way to the state championship game last year as he dominated his opponents week after week as a running back. Starks led the Dragons on offense with his 1,537 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns. Even at 200+ pounds, Starks was always one of the fastest and most explosive players on the field. He was one of the most effective rushers in the state, but his home at the next level, the University of Georgia, will likely be on defense. Starks is an intimidating defender who should make lots of plays from the safety position. He’s an excellent run defender, but his ability to snatch the ball out of the air make him an excellent weapon in the secondary. Looks for Starks to have another monster season as a senior in 2021.
Addison Nichols Addison Nichols 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Greater Atlanta Christian | 2022 State GA – Greater Atlanta Christian
The state isn’t as loaded on the offensive line as it usually is, but Nichols is a guy who would be highly ranked no matter what year it is. The impressive tackle prospect has great size at 6-foot-5 305-pounds and moves really well for his size. Not only is he a solid football prospect, but he’s an incredible student and one of the smartest players in the state. He’s physical both in the run game, and in pass protection He plays with a balanced base and shows great footwork for someone his size. He can dominate in the region he plays and holds offers from just about every program in the country. He’s been a major prospect for years now and is getting better and better by the day. The Norcross star is definitely a prospect to know for the 2021 season.
