The Detroit Public School League’s storied history comes with many monumental championships and legendary players. Last years DPSL recruiting class saw star players like [player_tooltip player_id="29540" first="Jaylen" last="Reed"] (Penn State) and [player_tooltip player_id="29544" first="Raheem" last="Anderson II"] (Michigan) fill up the Big Ten recruiting trail. While players from Cass Tech and Detroit King might attract most of the attention right now, there are a few other players around the DPSL that are poised for breakout seasons in 2021 that couldn't make this list. It will be interesting to see how this season plays out in Detroit.

Let’s check out some of the top players in the DPSL for the 2021 season.

[player_tooltip player_id="30286" first="Deone" last="Walker"]

The 6’7 senior can play both sides of the line well but shows a lot of potential as an offensive tackle. He has the frame and build to be suitable there at the next level, as well as the strength and technique. At the moment, Walker remains uncommitted but he’s a name to watch as players start to narrow down their top college choices. His top 15 last month included schools like Michigan, Michigan State, LSU, and Georgia.

https://twitter.com/deonewalker51/status/1382345117047123975?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id="30143" first="Jackson" last="Pruitt"]

Pruitt is another intriguing prospect from Cass Tech. He has a solid anchor with a strong lower body that prevents him from getting bull rushed. Pruitt will be best suited at guard at the next level but would not be surprised to see him move around the line if he has to due to his versatility. He's currently fielding offers, 29 at the moment, and his decision looks like it will carry over into the season. Lots of FBS schools are in on the dominant offensive guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="30148" first="Lynn" last="Wyche-El"]

One of the best weapons in the DPSL, Wyche-El Jr. is a true playmaker who can create plays from any area of the field for Detroit Martin Luther King. He's a force on tape who shows his twitchiness as well as his quick feet in the open field. He can blow by you at the line of scrimmage or juke his way around you near the sideline. Wyche-El has nine offers currently, with no final decision having been made.

https://twitter.com/TheD_Zone/status/1383640289072488456?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id="30164" first="Nate" last="Briggs"]

Briggs is another weapon out of the DPSL that is intriguing as summer scouting gets underway. It's clear that he can go vertical and he does it with ease, relying on his athleticism and speed to fly down the field. Briggs has dynamic get off ability at the line of scrimmage, using his strong lower body to get a push off. He also excels in the middle of the field where he can find a hole in the defense and expose it. Briggs currently has offers from Western Michigan and Southern Miss.

[player_tooltip player_id="30166" first="Karriem" last="Sharrieff"]

Sharrieff has a strong lower body and presents as a down-hill runner on film. He has good instincts at the line of scrimmage and immense patience when picking his hole on any type of zone concept. It will be exciting to see his growth in the 2021 season, as he showed a ton of potential in his 2020 season. Currently, Sharrieff has an offer from Central Michigan at the moment and awaits many more.

https://twitter.com/KarriemSharrie2/status/1352321638562455560?s=20
