Always lost in thew shuffle with nearby power Mainland, the Sandcrabs have long been loaded with quality talent – and while some of those athletes may have gravitated to other programs through the years, the 2020 season showed that this is a group of quality athletes that are ready to make an impact in the coming years.
With a solid off-season and a productive spring, this is a football team that embraces the summer – to learn, compete and gain some much-needed exposure.
With the pandemic cutting into the past 13 months, hard work was needed to keep improving this program.
As the summer is ready to go, the rising seniors (2022) will be counted on for experience and leadership.
Among those rising seniors include Latrae Bass (DB, 5-10, 155 – 3.03 GPA), Tommy Bunch (OL/DL, 6-1, 220 – 3.81), Dimitri Campbell (DB/PR, 5-10, 155 – 2.0 GPA), nationally-rated specialist Mac Chiumento Mac Chiumento P Daytona Beach Seabreeze | 2022 FL (K/P, 6-4, 205 – 3.23 GPA, 1260 SAT, 26 ACT), B.J. Glenn (DL, 5-11, 245 – 3.2 GPA, 15 ACT) and linebacker Laron Killins (5-11, 195 – 2.9 GPA).
The Class of 2022 also boats top-flight talent like Chris Lewis (WR/FS, 6-1, 193 – 3.2 GPA), gifted linebacker Steven Taylor (LB, 5-11, 195 – 3.2 GPA, 930 SAT), Tashod Troutman (WR, 5-10, 180 – 3.1 GPA) and impressive Flagler Palm Coast defensive end/linebacker Jeremy West (6-3, 201 – 3.54 GPA, 920 SAT, 17 ACT), who has been turning heads all off-season.
CLASS OF 2023 IS READY TO CONTRIBUTE
Part of the process in building a program is to have quality underclassmen. Seabreeze has much-publicized quarterback Blake Boda Blake Boda 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Cocoa | 2023 FL (6-3.5, 176 – 4.1 GPA), who is certainly the centerpiece of the offense. He is joined by talented Eli Campbell Eli Campbell 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Daytona Beach Seabreeze | 2023 FL (DB, 5-11, 168 – 3.2 GPA – 16 ACT), Tayshawn Galery (WR, 6-0, 160 – 2.63) and improving Amondre Willis (DB/Athlete, 5-10, 155 – 2.8 GPA) – someone who can help all over the field.
