One of the most impressive guys we discovered over the past few months was Neshoba Central product Ja’Naylon Dupree Ja’Naylon Dupree 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Neshoba Central | 2022 State MS . If Dupree’s name sounds familiar, it is because it his. His grandfather Marcus Dupree was a Philadelphia, MS legend who played at Oklahoma. The younger Dupree recently transferred into Neshoba Central after spending his high school career at Philadelphia. Although he is a smaller slot type receiver, Dupree can absolutely fly. He doesn’t have any documented times yet, but he could very well be in the sub 4.5 range if he ever runs a live 40. After his spring, Dupree added offers from Navy and Southern Mississippi. Look for that trend to continue.
Similar to Dupree, Jordan Martin Jordan Martin 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Lake Cormorant | 2022 State MS was another inside receiver that seemingly came out of nowhere. The Lake Cormorant product flashed in his spring game after a big 2020 season. Martin is a guy that can take the top off the defense and is the go to explosive player in his offense. He controls his body well and runs deep routes well for big gains. Martin can also line up and play defensive back. Off the gridiron, Martin is an all state powerlifter and track state champion. This guy is due for a big senior year. Would not be surprised if he blows up the camp circuit this summer due to his athleticism. Martin currently lists an offer from Marshall.
In small town Ruleville, Mississippi, players were not given a chance to shine due to their cancellation of the 2020 season. However, we were lucky enough to come across Jakell Allen Jakell Allen 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Ruleville Central | 2022 State MS this offseason when he DMed our account on Twitter. If it wasn’t for COVID, Allen is a guy that would be sitting on a pretty good amount of offers by now. As a sophomore, Allen flashed the ability to play both inside and outside receiver at a high level. He has the length to line up at X and the athletic ability to leap over corners for big catches. Allen has really natural hands – arguably some of the best in the entire state. The Ruleville product is also a threat to go all the way after the catch. Really high on this guy and excited to see him preform as a senior.
State champion Louisville High puts out talent every single year. This year’s guy looks to be Jarvis Rush Jarvis Rush 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Louisville | 2022 State MS . Rush is a tall and long outside receiver who currently lists offers from Southern Mississippi, Hinds, Coahoma, and East Central. As a junior, Rush was productive as a big downfield threat for Louisville. With his length and ball skills, Louisville was able to let Rush run straight down the field, throw the ball up, and most the time he would come down with it easily. Rush has the prototypical skillset for a X receiver at the next level. His natural hands and feel for the game will allow him to continue dominating whoever is across from him.
There were plenty of new additions to our WR rankings this past spring. Look for us to continue evaluating and discussing them over the summer!
