One of those schools happened to be Nease and head coach Collin Drafts.
With the pandemic and other things that made 2020 a season that many would like to forget, what this always competitive program began to do was focus on 2021 – where a challenging schedule awaits.
With a long off-season ahead, the focus will be on getting the rising seniors (2022) in a position to not only be difference makers, but also showcase leadership qualities that this program needs.
With schools such as Flagler Palm Coast, rival Ponte Vedra, Creekside, Orange Park, Jacksonville Atlantic Coast, Yulee, Jacksonville First Coast, St. Augustine, Neptune Beach Fletcher, Fleming Island and Westside, the season ahead will be one that the Panthers and this quality coaching staff will need to come together.
That Class of 2022 will be vital to the success in 2021 – with players such as Ben Bogle (FB/DL, 6-2, 220 – 2.9 GPA), Evan Crenshaw Evan Crenshaw P Ponte Vedra Nease | 2022 FL (P, 6-3, 180 – 3.57 GPA), Sam Dec (OT/DL, 6-4, 230 – 3.2 GPA), Taliek-Markehl Golphin (RB/OLB, 5-10, 165 – 3.5 GPA), Zach Harmon (LB, 5-9, 195 – 4.2 GPA, 1220 SAT), Dominique Henry (WR/DB, 5-10, 165 – 3.8 GPA) and kicker Canaan Kimbrall (5-11, 145 – 4.41 SAT) ready to make a statement.
The Panthers also have Creed McClafferty (WR/FS, 5-10, 165 – 3.3 GPA), Ryan McGough (WR/CB), Gabe Ohlson Gabe Ohlson QB Ponte Vedra Nease | 2022 FL (QB, 6-4, 210 – 3.6 GPA, 1110 SAT), Kenneth Ponzetti (WR/OLB, 6-2, 190 – 3.2 GPA, 23 ACT), Grant Stevens Grant Stevens TE Ponte Vedra Nease | 2022 FL (TE, 6-4, 230 – 3.1 GPA), Chase Warner (OLB, 6-2, 205 – 3.1 GPA) and versatile Donavan Wilson (WR/FS, 6-3, 195 – 3.5 GPA).
UNFDERCLASSMEN WILL BE VERY IMPORTANT
Like so many teams, Nease will look to the underclassmen for some help and much-needed depth. Prospects like Gavin Bogart (OLB, 5-10, 160), Matthew Edwards (CB, 5-9, 145), Samuel Milton (RB, 5-7, 175), Brenden Monty (WR, 5-10, 140), Davon Patterson (WR, 5-8, 160), Paden Pinder (OT, 6-2, 275), Nick Severt (DE/OT, 6-2, 210) and quarterback Marcus Stokes (6-2, 175).
The Class of 2024 (rising sophomores) also have some young talent like Demarco Blackmon (OL, 5-8, 255), Joey Couch (DL, 6-2, 230), Cade Papineau (OLB, 6-0, 165) and Emmanuel Williams (WR/CB).
