Many football players in the state of Arkansas participate in multiple sports. Several athletes were part of state winning track programs this week. Many are athletes that we have featured on Prep RedZone Arkansas. Participating in multiple sports is always an excellent goal for athletes to take part in and it is highly encouraged in coaching circles for athletes to take advantage of such an opportunity. We are going to highlight several players that have won state championships or performed impressively in track and field events this week.
[player_tooltip player_id="140509" first="Sam" last="Hurley"]-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2022
Hurley is a part of a dangerous wide receiver corps that the Bulldogs have. Hurley is also a part of Fayetteville track team that recently just won the third straight 6A-State Championship in track and field. Hurley had great showings this week winning the high jump with a height of 6’5, the long jump with a distance 23’2, and the pole vault with height of 13’100. The young man is just an amazing athlete, and, in the fall, he will be a headache for opposing defenses. Congratulations go out to [player_tooltip player_id="140509" first="Sam" last="Hurley"].
[player_tooltip player_id="75079" first="Jace" last="Sutulovich"]- Offensive Line-Siloam Springs-2022
The offensive line powerhouse from Siloam Springs has earned a scholarship offer from the University of New Mexico. However, this week he was showing what he could do in field events of the state 5A-State Championship. Sutulovich earned a state championship during championship week this week. He won the shot put competition, with a throw of 52’1.25. Sutulovich will have the opportunity to earn some more hardware, as the competition turns to the upcoming football season. Congratulations go out to Jace on an impressive throw and on earning a state championship in the shot put event.
[player_tooltip player_id="107155" first="Landon" last="Semrad"]-Wide Receiver-Prairie Grove-2022
One prospect that has been flying under the radar is [player_tooltip player_id="107155" first="Landon" last="Semrad"]. Semrad put up an impressive showing at the 4-A State Championship for track and field. The playmaking wide receiver out of Prairie Grove performed well for the Tigers in the state track meet. Semrad competed in multiple events this week. In Nashville this week, Semrad finished 6th place in the long jump and third place in the triple jump. Semrad had a terrific showing and attention now turns to what the red zone threat is going to do for the Tigers this football season. Congratulations to [player_tooltip player_id="107155" first="Landon" last="Semrad"] on a terrific showing this week.
[player_tooltip player_id="140506" first="Tyrell" last="Lambert"]-Defensive Back-Hot Springs-2022
[player_tooltip player_id="140506" first="Tyrell" last="Lambert"] is an impressive defensive back for the Hot Springs Trojans. He is all over the field for the Trojans. However, Lambert has proven to be just as explosive in track and field events for the Trojan. Lambert added some hardware to his collection this week. He won the 5-A State Championship in the triple jump this week. Lambert won the event with an impressive jump of 46’3. Winning the state triple jump makes scouts excited to see how explosive a 2021 season that Lambert is going to put together on the football field. Congratulations go out to [player_tooltip player_id="140506" first="Tyrell" last="Lambert"].
[player_tooltip player_id="140726" first="Ta’Jon" last="Sparks"]-Athlete-Springdale-2023
Sparks is an explosive sophomore out of Springdale. He has a great week with track and field events. However, he also earned an invitation to the ESPN 300 Elite Underclassmen camp in Los Angeles. Sparks this week earned All-State honors in track and field. The speedster also set a personal record in the state 100-meters with a time of 11.09 seconds. A time like 11.09 is enough to make opposing football coaches sit up and take notice. Sparks is a sophomore to keep an eye on and I would expect a big 2021 season from the Springdale Bulldog. Congratulations go out to Sparks on the All-State honors, great showing on the track, and earning invite to the Elite Underclassmen camp.
