Grabbing the Spotlight: Braden Oliver Defensive Back Searcy
The defensive back class for the class of 2022 is shaping out to be a strong one. Especially, when you examine the safety position for the class of 2022. Oliver has plenty of goals in mind as he prepares for the 2021 season and we are going to learn a little more about the Searcy safety.
The first thing that people need to know about Oliver is that he is always around the football. He uses his speed well to put himself in position to either knock the ball away from the wide receiver or make the tackle. Last season, Oliver was terrific, he racked up 133 tackles, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. His performance last season earned him All-State honors at the safety position. He is a strong candidate to repeat that kind of performance this season.
Oliver has team and individual goals that he is wanting to see accomplished for this coming season. From a team perspective, Oliver wants the Lions to continue to build team chemistry. After a being on a state championship team before, Oliver and his teammates have the ultimate goal of winning a state championship. Searcy has the talent on both sides of the ball to accomplish this feat. Meanwhile, from an individual goals’ perspective, Oliver wants to get quicker and continue to work in the gym.
Shifting gears toward the recruiting and 7-on-7 seasons. Oliver is looking forward to the 7-on-7 season. It is a way to build that team chemistry which will be critical going into the 2021 season. From a recruiting perspective, Oliver has heard from Ouachita Baptist and Bethel University. Oliver has the potential to have a terrific season this season and the list of scholarship offers should continue to grow for this young. He has the leadership qualities that coaches at the next level are looking for in the secondary. Oliver has the talent and determination to play on Saturdays and one team is going to get a gem this recruiting season.
