Welcome PrepRedZone Alabama! Today, we are going to introduce a new series where we evaluate film that is sent in via our "Prospect Index" feature on the site. The Prospect Index allows players around the state to create or claim their own recruiting profile for FREE and get on our watch list or into our rankings. It’s a great feature for everybody - players get more exposure and we get more film to watch! Let’s dive into the first group of players that have submitted their tape.
[player_tooltip player_id="127670" first="AJ" last="Wallace"] | 2023 QB | Moody
As a first year sophomore starter, Wallace completed 64% of his passes for 2100 yards and 20 TDs, as well as producing on the ground. That’s a good year for anybody, which makes it impressive that Wallace did it so early! The young QB stands at 5’11" 160 with plenty of room left to grow and fill out. He has good athleticism in the open field and is a threat to scramble and tuck the ball. Wallace is very technically sound. He drops back well without a ton of excess movement and can deliver accurate strikes downfield at all levels. While he isn’t the biggest yet, his arm strength doesn’t match his body. This is a guy that can rip the ball downfield with great velocity. Love this guy’s tape, looking forward to watching his camp stuff this summer and junior season.
[player_tooltip player_id="136227" first="Daimon" last="Hitchcock"] | 2022 ATH | Southside
A two way player at WR and DB, [player_tooltip player_id="136227" first="Daimon" last="Hitchcock"] made big time plays on both sides of the ball last season. On defense, Hitchcock transitions well and makes open field tackles. Although he isn’t the biggest, Hitchcock will step up and be physical with wide receivers at the line of scrimmage. He looks good and both man and zone coverage, but plays his best ball in off man. On offense, Hitchcock lines up at slot receiver. He has good initial burst off the ball and knows how to find space and when to sit in a zone hole. Hitchcock has natural hands and controls his body well to make sideline grabs. Good player due for a big senior season.
[player_tooltip player_id="125533" first="Jaeden" last="Jackson"] | 2023 DL | George W. Long
[player_tooltip player_id="125533" first="Jaeden" last="Jackson"] has been a bit of a known commodity since early this year. He currently lists offers from Michigan, South Carolina, Florida Atlantic and Liberty, and looks on pace to blow up by the time he is a senior. The young DL stands at 6’1" 280 with good size to play on the interior. He will continue to grow over the next two seasons as well. Jackson has good initial burst off the ball and knows how to use his hands to generate separation. He can also move well in space and change direction in the open field. As a pass rusher, he has a variety of moves including a spin to get to the quarterback. Jackson is also stout against the run and can defeat double teams. This is the kind of guy whose potential hasn’t even been close to maxed out yet. Look for him to be one of the higher recruited defensive linemen in Alabama.
[player_tooltip player_id="137213" first="Jalin" last="Edwards"] | 2024 DL | Grissom
Already having the build of a future college edge rusher, [player_tooltip player_id="137213" first="Jalin" last="Edwards"] stands at 6’3" 210 as a freshman. Last season, Edwards demonstrated he had the ability to grow into a prospect that many teams will chase after. Edwards plays the 5 and 9 tech and has the ability to take his hand out of the ground and play in a two point stance as well. He has good get off and violent hands when he gets tangled up with an offensive lineman. Edwards has a nose for the football and forces a lot of fumbles by using his length and violence. Really like this guy’s skillset at an early age. He only played freshman ball last year, so watch for him to make a real name for himself as a sophomore.
