These athletes are now one step closer toward fulfilling their dreams of playing at the collegiate level. Here are some players from our rankings that have recently signed their National Letters of Intent this spring.
Isaac Stanton Isaac Stanton 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Basehor-Linwood | 2021 State KS – Basehor-Linwood, 6’2”, 185, QB (Kansas Wesleyan University)
Stanton is joining a talented Coyotes team that finished their 2020 campaign with an 8-2 record and a 5-2 record in conference play. The Coyotes are getting a very accomplished quarterback that will compete for playing time. During Stanton’s senior year he threw for over 2,600 yards with 32 touchdowns, while completing 62% of his passes. He was a Fontana Award finalist, 4A All-State Honorable Mention pick, and selected to the 2021 Kansas Shrine Bowl.
Josh Sparks Josh Sparks 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB Andover | 2021 State KS – Andover, 6’1”, 205, LB (Santa Rosa Junior College)
Sparks will be taking his talents to the West Coast to become a Bear Cub. He was a talented three-sport athlete while at Andover, which explains his versatility on the gridiron. Sparks displays quick pursuit and heavy hitting at linebacker, but he can also lead block and run between the tackles as a fullback. It will be interesting to see how Santa Rosa utilizes his abilities.
Dillon Schobourgh Dillon Schobourgh 6'1" | 240 lbs | DL Andover | 2021 State KS – Andover, 6’1”, 240, DL (Santa Rosa Junior College)
Schobourgh will be joining his Andover teammate at Santa Rosa. Dillon earned a 5A All-State Honorable Mention nod for being a force off the edge throughout the 2020 season. He’s explosive off the line of scrimmage and he uses an array of moves to get into the backfield. Schobourgh and Sparks could be key playmakers for the Bear Cubs’ defense.
Gus Campa Gus Campa 6'2" | 240 lbs | DL Sacred Heart | 2021 State KS – Sacred Heart, 6’2”, 240, DL (Highland Community College)
Campa is a yet another solid signing in a loaded 2021 recruiting class for the Scotties. Highland is getting a tough versatile defensive lineman that accumulated over 100 total tackles in his high school career. Campa can play as a three or five tech, beat double teams, and catch ball carriers in the backfield.
Nic Allen Nic Allen 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Riley County | 2021 State KS – Riley County, 6’0”, 190, RB (Emporia State University)
Allen took over as the primary back for the Falcons in 2020 and he had a monster senior year. He went on to rush for over 1,500 yards with an explosive eight yards per carry, and he found the end zone 29 times. Allen is going to a program that fits his style of play, because the Hornets favor a heavy run game.
Aaron Rutherford Aaron Rutherford 6'0" | 160 lbs | QB Field Kindley | 2021 State KS – Field Kindley, 6’0”, 160, QB (Coffeyville Community College)
Rutherford will be playing at the collegiate level in his backyard, as he is committed to play for his hometown Red Ravens. He showed flashes of his dual-threat capability during his senior year, racking up over 1,000 yards of total offense and accounting for 10 total touchdowns. A redshirt season during his freshmen year could benefit him, as he would have the chance to add size, develop as a passer and learn the offense.
Brycen Labertew Brycen Labertew 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB McPherson | 2021 State KS – McPherson, 5’11”, 200, LB (Washburn University)
Labertew and the Bull Pups ‘success in 2020 caught the eye of the Ichabods. The senior backer piled up over 100 total tackles, one interception with four pass break ups, three blocked punts, one sack, and two forced fumbles. Labertew is great at quickly reading plays, being aware in coverage, and he flies to the football. He could see some early snaps during his freshmen season.
Amarion Wilkins Amarion Wilkins 6'4" | 185 lbs | DL Wichita Heights | 2021 State KS – Wichita Heights, 6’4”, 190 (Millikan University)
Wilkins could be a player with some upside for the Big Blue. During his final high school season, Wilkins tallied 45 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, seven pressures and one blocked punt. His efforts earned him All City 1st Team for defensive line. He’s smaller in terms of weight for a typical defensive end, but his length and quickness make up for that. A redshirt year could give him time to add size and some pass rushing moves to his repertoire.
