1. Kaleb Brown Kaleb Brown 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Del Valle | 2022 State TX – Del Valle High School (Del Valle, TX)
Brown earned District 26-6A second-team honors and has committed to Houston. He also received offers from Boise State, Boston College, Colorado State and Iowa State. In 2019, he registered 103 total tackles, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. Looking at his sophomore tape, Brown has everything it takes to make a great linebacker including being able to read routes and make a big play based on that ability. He is always in the right spot and always has his eye on the ball. There is a reason Brown is so high on Prep Redzone Texas’ rankings, and it will be fun to watch him in his senior season.
2. Isaiah Edwards Isaiah Edwards 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Madison | 2022 State TX – Madison High School (San Antonio, TX)
Edwards also has received multiple offers from Colorado State, FIU, Louisiana, San Diego State and Texas Southern. Much like Brown, Edwards always has his eye on the ball and his pursuit numbers would be high if this were a video game, because he is always chasing the ball carrier down on each play. He is both strong and fast and plays havoc on offenses that try and run the ball. Edwards is simply put a machine that is hard to stop, especially in the linebacker position.
3. Treylin Payne Treylin Payne 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Judson | 2022 State TX – Judson High School (Converse, TX)
For Payne, he has received offers from Boston College, Colorado State, North Texas, Texas State and Tulane. In the 2020 season, he had 100 total tackles, nine tackles for a loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, one interception return for a touchdown and two interceptions. One thing Payne has over the other linebackers on this list is his ability to be a ballhawk from the linebacker position. He is a master at stripping the ball and if there are any gaps in the defensive line, he steps right in those gaps to stop a big run play. Overall, Payne is an all-around great linebacker to have on a team.
4. Treylon Williams Treylon Williams 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Samuel Clemens | 2022 State TX – Samuel Clemens High School (Schertz, TX)
Sometimes lining up in the edge rusher spot, Williams has both power and determination on his side. He is constantly in the quarterback’s face whether he is scrambling or dropping back for the pass. For offenses, it is almost always a mistake to have a run play that goes off of his side as he can stomp down any chances of a play forming. Even while being wrapped up in a block, Williams was still able to make a tackle on one play during his highlight reel. Based off these clips, Williams is a fun one to watch and it will be interesting to see how he does in his senior season.
