While they have not received much offers yet, once they take this talent to the senior season, the offers should start pouring through. Take a look at two Central Texas defensive linemen who are ranked in Prep Redzone Texas’ Class of 2022 rankings.
1. Cedric Roberts Cedric Roberts 6'3" | 275 lbs | DL Hendrickson | 2022 State TX – Hendrickson High School (Pflugerville, TX)
Roberts has already committed to Baylor, but with his talent, it is likely that more offers will come despite him already making his decision. On top of Baylor, he received offers from Colorado State, SMU, Utah State and UTSA. Last season, Roberts earned District 11-5A honorable mention. Judging by his tape, Baylor got lucky with someone who can easily crush the run by closing up the gaps and providing no way out for the running back. Roberts is also quick off the snap and has the agility to leap past the offensive linemen before they even get set in their blocks. Roberts will make running the ball against Hendrickson a challenge.
2. Ian Box Ian Box 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL Seguin | 2022 State TX – Seguin High School (Seguin, TX)
Box has appeared on Prep Redzone Texas multiple times and for good reason. Although with no current big offers, Box remains as among the best in the defensive line position in Central Texas. Last season, he registered 59 total tackles and 45 solo tackles, 9.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries. Box’s power is unmatched, he can shove offensive linemen down with ease and always has his eye on the ball by not falling for any trick plays. Also despite being double-blocked, he is still able to make the play much like Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt. Box certainly has the skill and talent and will be fun to watch his senior season.
