Whether as a high school player, a college standout at the University of Florida, a college coach and even a member of the media for several years, Ackerman has called on his past experiences to set the table for the future.
A passionate football guy, Ackerman has channeled his knowledge and love for the sport and is now teaching.
With spring finishing up last week, Ackerman and at the Rattlers are completely focused on the 2021 season – and the future of this program.
Coming off a tough 0-7 season during the pandemic, there were a number of positives this program played on – especially with solid group coming back – as well as a few new faces that could help this program turn the corner.
The theme this off-season is all about getting better individually, so the team benefits.
Class of 2022 seniors ready to step up include impressive defensive back Jahari Baker (6-0, 190), who has shown that he will be special this coming season.
In addition, keep an eye on Jackson Dennis (WR, 6-3, 175 – 3.0 GPA), Dylan Kennard (OC, 6-1, 240 – 3.0 GPA), Darryl Minor (Athlete, 6-0, 195), Michael Minor (DT, 5-11, 240), Eugene Reed (RB/LB – 2.8 GPA) and receiver Justin Swander (5-9, 165 – 3.1 GPA).
UNDERCLASSMEN ARE READY TO GO
Another positive out of the spring was the way many of the younger prospects stepped up and challenged themselves.
Prospects such as Tim Crofford (LB, 5-10, 186 – 3.2 GPA), Cedric Durden (WR, 6-2, 175 – 2.5 GPA), Julian Flores (DL, 5-10, 225 – 2.8 GPA), Cornelius Greene (LB, 5-1-0, 175 – 3.5 GPA), Andrew Lanctot (WR, 6-1, 185 – 2.8 GPA) and receiver Montay Lightsey (5-10, 165 – 2.5 GPA).
In addition, the rising juniors will send out Yvan Louis (NT, 6-2, 300 – 2.5 GPA), Eric McGlaughlin (RB, 5-9, 175 – 2.9 GPA) and improving offensive lineman K.D. Solomon (6-2, 260 – 3.5 GPA).
Also, the Class of 2024 will have some surprised with Ethan Dodsworth (OL, 6-3, 240 – 3.2 GPA) and defensive back Jaheem Shannon (5-10, 190 – 3.0 GPA).
