With this installment we will drift back over to the offensive side of the ball. The 7-A West is at no shortage for talent on the offensive side of the ball for the 2022 class. Talent is spread out all over the 7-A West and we will get a great opportunity to see it on display this summer in 7-on-7 tournaments and team camps this season.
Cooper Smith Cooper Smith 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Bentonville | 2022 State AR -Wide Receiver- Bentonville
The Bentonville Tigers do not have a shortage for talent at the wide receiver position this season. Smith has excellent speed and is a threat to score from all over the field. The Bentonville coaching staff does a terrific job of lining Smith up all over the field. He can play the slot or the wide position with equal effectiveness. Smith is a consistent pass catcher, and he will not drop passes. Smith is another wide receiver, in a talented group of wide receivers, that will be playing on Saturdays in the fall.
Bladen Fike Bladen Fike 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR -Quarterback-Fayetteville
The Fayetteville quarterback has proven that he has the arm strength to throw to his talented receiving corps. Fike has a strong arm and he can fit passes into smaller windows for his wide receivers. He throws the deep ball with strength and accuracy. Fike’s accuracy is what stands out the most for me. He is a player that does a good job of throwing the football on the run. He is able to move around in the pocket enough to extend the play. Fike is going to draw attention this season and he has the potential to really light up some opposing defenses.
Landon Phipps Landon Phipps 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Springdale | 2022 State AR -Quarterback-Springdale
Phipps does a little bit of everything for the Springdale Bulldogs. He is a terrific rushing quarterback. He is able to identify the rushing lanes and explode through the hole. Phipps found the end zone 15 times last season. Phipps makes good decisions with the football and he throws the ball accuracy. He is a nightmare when he gets out of the pocket and he makes the opposing defense guess on whether he is going to throw the football. Phipps is one of those players that the defense must account for and the potential is there for him to have a big season in 2021.
Peyton McKee Peyton McKee 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Springdale Har-Ber | 2022 State AR -Wide Receiver-Springdale Har-Ber
Peyton McKee Peyton McKee 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Springdale Har-Ber | 2022 State AR is one of those wide receivers that sticks out on the tape. McKee’s route running is crisp, and he will not drop passes. He does a great job in making difficult receptions look easy. An area that stands out regarding McKee, is that the young man plays with a chip on his shoulder. He forces the opposing defense to make sure that they have accounted for him. When he gets hot, he can make the opposing defense look bad. Scouts and fans should look for McKee to have an impressive season this season.
Luke Wright Luke Wright 6'0" | 200 lbs | TE Bentonville | 2022 State AR -Tight End-Bentonville
Luke Wright Luke Wright 6'0" | 200 lbs | TE Bentonville | 2022 State AR does everything well for the Bentonville Tigers. The young man blocks for his teammates and has proven to be an unselfish blocker. Wright is more than willing to create a lane for his teammates. He plays angry and that is a trait I enjoy seeing, especially at the tight end position. The Bentonville coaching staff is creative with how they position Wright on the field. Wright’s routes are crisp, and he uses his athletic ability well to create separation in the passing game. He gives the Tigers another weapon in the red zone and he has the potential to blow up this season in the passing game.
