Recently, the in state junior colleges have started to evaluate tape and find some of the best kept secrets in the state. Today, we will be checking out several prospects who have recently come onto the junior college recruiting scene.
Keinorriss Anderson | RB | Wilkinson County
A 6’0″ 170 all purpose back, Anderson was a huge source of production for the Wilkinson County offense last season. Anderson has good feet and vision and can find the open hole with ease. Once he puts his foot in the ground and hits the hole, he is off on a race to the end zone. In the open field, Anderson shows good ability to make people miss and solid balance through contact. He can also catch passes out of the backfield and has value in the pass game. Due for a big senior season. Anderson added his first offer from Southwest this week.
Eric Powell | DB | McComb
A long defensive back on a talented McComb defense, Eric Powell added his first offer from Southwest just a day ago. Powell has prototypical size for the position and does a great job in coverage in both press man and zone. He has good hips and transitions well. Powell uses his length and physicality to force a lot of pass break ups. Powell will also come up and make open field tackles. Like the upside he brings to the table. Watch for him to continue adding offers soon.
Quentis Griffin | DT | Wilkinson County
Another Wilkinson County product, Quentis Griffin stands tall at 6’5″ 308. Griffin has elite size for the position and could become a dang good player with his natural ability. Griffin added an offer from Southwest a day ago. Need to get down to a game and watch this guy play live as he currently has no film posted on his profile.
Avery Carter Avery Carter 6'5" | 185 lbs | DB Ocean Springs | 2022 State MS | DB | Ocean Springs
Avery Carter Avery Carter 6'5" | 185 lbs | DB Ocean Springs | 2022 State MS is a guy that we have liked around here for a while now. 6’5″ safeties don’t come around very often. Carter has good athleticism and runs well in space. He has a nose for the football and can bring the boom when he tackles. Carter times up his interceptions and break ups well and has natural ball skills. Really like this guy and think he could keep playing safety or grow into an athletic linebacker. Carter added an offer from powerhouse Mississippi Gulf Coast last week.
Jarvis Rush Jarvis Rush 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Louisville | 2022 State MS | WR | Louisville
One of the biggest WR sleepers this cycle, Jarvis Rush Jarvis Rush 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Louisville | 2022 State MS added East Central to his offer sheet this past week. Rush is a long outside receiver with good speed. He is a long strider who controls his body well and can make some pretty impressive contested catches. Rush works well in the open field and is a great vertical threat for Louisville. Look for him to continue producing this upcoming season and make a name for himself as one of the best WRs in the state.
Jonathan Vaughn | ATH | Meridian
Vaughn is the do it all guy at Meridian. The impressive playmaker lines up in the slot, at quarterback, and at running back. Coaches are constantly trying to get the ball into his hands. Vaughn has borderline elite speed in the open field and can make people miss as well. He is a quick twitched explosive player who can score from anywhere on the field. It’s hard to get a hand on this guy when he gets going. Love how exciting he is. Watch for him to have a huge senior year and add more offers. Vaughn added Pearl River last week.
Jacob Williams | LB | Ocean Springs
Jacob Williams is a downhill thumper who can also play sideline to sideline. This guy hits like a train in the open field. He has great form and power generated from his lower body. Williams reads his keys well and can quickly trigger on a play. He is always in the backfield making big time plays for Ocean Springs. Williams also has a ton of value in the pass game as a blitzer and pass coverage player. Love this guy’s tape and want to watch more of him. Will be a riser in the next rankings. Williams lists an offer from Co-Lin right now, but that list will grow.
