With Hurricane Michael coming ashore nearly three years ago, and having many of their players and coaches lose power and deal with the aftermath, this is school that has dealt with more than most have.
The Dolphins managed to get back on track in 2019, but then this past year happened – and as Covid spread through the world, the Panama City area was not spared.
This past season, while tough on everyone, saw the Dolphins finish 4-4, which included a 38-24 loss to St. Augustine in the first round of the playoffs.
There were several ways to look at the 2020 season – and wins over Panama City Bozeman (42-9), Clearwater Academy International (31-28), Panama City Bay (48-13) and Gulf Breeze (44-7), gave this program something to rally around.
Focusing on the losses to power Niceville, Milton and the down-to-the-wire 24-21 overtime setback to Crawfordville Wakulla will not get this team better. Hard work and learning from last year will.
This is a senior-oriented class that will step into the leadership role for the Dolphins.
Among those ready to step up include Joe Carpenter (OLB, 6-0, 175), Lamar Herrero Clark (Athlete, 5-9, 180), Chris Culver (WR, 6-4, 180), Cole Horton Cole Horton 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Mosley | 2022 FL (QB, 6-2, 180), Chris Jackson (DE, 6-1, 220), Josiah McCall Josiah McCall QB Lynn Haven Mosley | 2022 FL (Athlete, 5-10, 200) and Ryan Stephenson (OL/DL, 6-3, 290).
UNDERCLASSMEN WILL HELP IN 2021
With much of the help coming from this rising senior class, do not sell the underclassman short.
As the 2024 prospects are still growing, maturing and learning, the Class of 2023 (rising juniors) are certainly ready to make an impact.
The Dolphins feature Hunter Burke (RB, 5-8, 195), Issac Paul (CB, 5-11, 170) and quick-rising tight end Randy Pittman Randy Pittman 6'2" | 220 lbs | TE Lynn Haven Mosley | 2023 State FL (6-2, 220).
