Coach O and Jasone Pearson with 806HSSC held a trench warfare camp in Lubbock to showcase some of the local talent. Players from all over west Texas, the panhandle, and even a few from Oklahoma and DFW showed up to put their skills on display. Several defensive linemen/outside linebackers earned some recognition for their performance.
DL MVP Kam Curry Kam Curry 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL Lee | 2022 TX – 2022 Midland Lee DT
Curry was a man among boys throughout the whole camp. He was almost unblockable with his quickness, strength, and developed pass-rush plan. Kam could walk back linemen with his bull rush, kept his body clear with excellent hand usage, and had a sick spin move that left one of the best offensive linemen grasping at air. He was able to win reps as a nose, 3 technique, and at defensive end. At 6’2, 309lbs, Curry has the size and skills to be a serious player for teams at the next level.
Deontae Butler – 2022 Estacado DT
Butler was impressive with his quickness off the line. He played with good leverage, allowing him to overpower people with ease, and even showed off a solid swat move to break free.
Antwone Haskin – 2024 Estacado DT
Haskin is heading into his sophomore season with a few skills that will make him a handful in the middle of the Estacado defensive line. He plays with active hands, a low center of gravity, and a relentless motor that wears down an opponent. Antwone will be a menace when paired with his teammate Butler.
Manny Gonzales – 2022 Denver City DE
Gonzales has the solid build coaches are looking for at 6’3 240lbs. He is a strong player, that gets plenty of movement with his bull rush, and offers the flexibility of being a standout at both offensive and defensive lines.
Tavion Ivery – 2022 Littlefield DE
Ivery was a fun player to watch at this camp because of his quickness off the line and his never-ending motor. He had a variety of moves off the edge to keep the tackles off balance.
Marquise White – 2022 Monterey OLB
As one of only 2 outside linebackers at this camp, White was at a size disadvantage, but that didn’t stop him from competing and making it into the best of the best competition. At 6’2 195lbs, he has a lean frame that allows him to play quickly and use his athleticism when rushing off the edge.
