They don’t have to wonder anymore.
Shortly after quarterbacking Grants in its final spring game against Bernalillo, 6-foot-4, 225-pound rising senior signal caller Brandon Furbee Brandon Furbee 6'3" | QB Farmington | 2022 State NM transferred to Farmington, immediately becoming the Scorpions’ presumptive starter.
Furbee is Prep Redzone New Mexico’s No. 12 overall prospect and the No. 3 quarterback in the updated 2022 rankings revealed earlier this week.
“Excited to start my new journey at Farmington High,” Furbee posted on Twitter six days ago.
Furbee told Prep Redzone New Mexico that his decision to transfer to Farmington was based on several factors, among them the opportunity to live with his mother in the Four Corners and greater exposure in his pursuit to play at the next level.
“My mom lived here and I wanted to spend my senior year with her,” Furbee said. “And I believe playing for a 5A school will afford me a better opportunity to follow my dream (of playing college football).”
Furbee moved to Farmington about three weeks ago and quickly integrated himself into the football team, meeting with coaches and teammates.
“We actually have an athletic hour for football,” Furbee said. “I have met plenty of teammates. They are very excited to have me a part of the team. I’ve been learning the offense throughout the three weeks I have been here. The offense is awesome. There’s still a lot to learn, but we have time.”
Before officially putting on the Farmington uniform in August, Furbee will attend several camps this summer, including one in las Vegas and prestigious camp in Dallas that’s supposed to be attended by more than 50 major college coaches.
