This is the time of the year that I have time to go out and evaluate hundreds of prospects in person. Recently, I attended the East Coast Elite 7v7 powered by SWAG 7v7 and All State Preps. I didn’t get to see every single player perform. Therefore, I decided to ask the coaches who their MVP’s were for the weekend. Some coaches went a step further and dropped some additional information on their players. I’ll be posting those scouting reports in the upcoming weeks.
NIKE ELITE COACH’S REPORT – PENNSYLVANIA
As usual had a great tournament making a lot of spectacular throws. 15 years old kid who continues to dominate in the 18u division. 6’4 and 210 pound gunslinger is a special talent.
Defensive MVP: Hunter Hodges/Cornerback/2022/Erie McDowell 2022 CB
He had four interceptions and numerous pass breakups. He played lockdown cornerback against some big name wide receivers and didn’t allow any touchdowns all tournament.
Was hands down one of the best players in the entire tournament. Was flat out making DB’s look silly. In 5 games he had 12 touchdowns. Big, strong, fast, runs perfect routes and most importantly catches every ball that is thrown to him.
TEAM NO LACKIN COACH’S REPORT (PENNSYLVANIA)
Offensive MVP: Wesseh Jordan/Wide Receiver/2022/Bishop Shanahan
Ran good routes all weekend and lead the team in receiving touchdowns and receptions through five games.
Defensive MVP: Montez Ellis/Athlete/2023/Upper Darby
Played press man very well and displayed great ball skills all tournament. He is very athletic and plays bigger than his frame. The rising junior will be one to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
Overall MVP: Cooper Jordan/Quarterback/2022/Bishop Shanahan
Lead the team in touchdowns. He has a live arm and makes accurate throws from in the pocket and on the run. District 1 4-A champion who threw for over 1,500 yards and rushed for 700-plus yards as a sophomore. Went 4-0 last year in his junior campaign due to a Covid-19 season.
THE WHOLE NINE COACH’S REPORT (NEW JERSEY)
Offensive MVP: Jamarion Wright/Quarterback/2022/Bayonne
Great reads reads and anticipation. Looking to have a huge senior year.
Defensive MVP: Christian Ashe/Defensive Back/2022/Bayonne
Great ball skills all weekend. Displayed his versatility in the secondary. Another big season coming for Ashe!
Overall MVP: Rocky Rodriguez JR./Running Back-Wide Receiver/2024/Bayonne
Competed at a high level and showed what he’s capable of for the next three years in Jersey. Huge Freshman year this past season. Sophomore year should be even better.
