Now that pretty much all of the teams in Southern California have played a game, we have more great defensive performances to choose from.
Here were the top passing performances in week two.
Here were the top rushing performances in week two.
Here were the top receiving performances in week two.
Below are six of the top defensive performers from week two and some honorable mentions.
Sinn Brennan Sinn Brennan 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Los Alamitos | 2023 State CA , Los Alamitos, 2023
Brennan transferred to Los Alamitos from Santa Margarita and has made an immediate impact. He is a big guy at 6-foot-5 and between 230 and 240 pounds and could be a defensive end or a tight end at the next level. He had a huge sack for a safety in Los Alamitos’ major win over Corona del Mar. He is a name that Southern California football fans will be hearing a lot for the next three years.

Lando Brown, Serra, 2021
I promise not to write about Lando Brown every week but it’s hard not to when he keeps dominating on the gridiron. He recorded 11 tackles, four sacks and forced a fumble in Serra’s 12-6 overtime win over Chaminade. Last week, he had 14 tackles and a sack against Long Beach Poly. He is one of the best unsigned linebackers in the state.
Congrats Lando Brown (Serra, Gardena).

Charlie Gooding, La Jolla Country Day, 2023
La Jolla Country Day suffered a tough loss to crosstown rival Bishop’s last week but got a standout performance from sophomore defensive back Charlie Gooding. Gooding intercepted a pass and returned it 97-yards for a touchdown. He also had four catches on offense and three tackles. He is a hair under 6-feet tall with room to put on muscle and could develop into a prospect.
Robert Rosebaugh, Crespi, 2021
There was not a lot of defense being played in Crespi’s 53-43 win over Calabasas last week, but Rosebaugh had a big night for the Celts’ defense. The senior had eight tackles and two interceptions in the win. He had 23 tackles and two fumble recoveries as a sophomore for Crespi and has developed into a quality senior player. Rosebaugh is a track guy with real speed who has flown under the recruiting radar.

Jason Sanford Jr., Pasadena, 2022
Pasadena and Burbank got the cool opportunity to play at the Rose Bowl last Friday. The offense got a lot of attention for scoring 42 points but the Pasadena defense played well too. Sanford Jr. had two interceptions and returned them for 35 yards. He also had a 20-yard kick return and is one of the best athletes on the field.
Kanious Vaughn, San Clemente, 2021
Vaughn was a guy who was talked a lot about this offseason and very highly-regarded by his coaches, but lacked the varsity film to confirm the hype. He had two sacks for San Clemente in a 35-24 win over Capistrano Valley and was instrumental in shutting down the Capo Valley running game. He is a 6-foot-2 defensive end around 220 pounds and could be an outside linebacker at the next level.
