At the end of the week we will review all the tape and feature a few players whose film impressed. Now let’s get to it for this week!
D’Mariun Perteet | South Panola
Perteet is the next guy up in a long line of dynamic athletes from “The University of South Panola”. Current LA Rams RB Darrell Henderson is a South Panola alum who D’mariun is chasing after. Perteet on film is one of the most impressive 2023 skill players we’ve seen yet. Prototype build and size are combined with above average straight line speed and acceleration. Good change of direction with whole field vision is already evident on Sophomore season tape. Nearly 1,000 rush yards for Perteet last season. Already receiving Power 5 interest but has the makings to be a national recruit before all is said and done. Sky is the limit here.
Davin Anderson Davin Anderson 6'4" | 235 lbs | DL St. Joseph's | 2022 State MS | St. Joseph Catholic School
At 6″4, 235lb, the presence of size immediately appears on Anderson’s film. The transfer from Greenwood High School has nasty big hit intentions when he gets the opportunity. Anderson is most active as an edge pass rusher with ability to line up with a hand in the dirt or not. Good length makes him disruptive in battles in the trenches along with the physicality he brings to the table. As body control becomes more natural his skillset will only grow. Potential to be a pass rush nightmare off the end. Currently is receiving D1 interest which is deserved, offers at that level shouldn’t be far away.
Trip Maxwell Trip Maxwell 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Hartfield Academy | 2023 State MS | Oxford
Gamer. That is the first word that comes to the mind when watching Maxwell play. The Charger’s rising JR was thrown into the fire at the QB position in one of the toughest 6A divisions in the state and was a major contributor in making it back to the State Championship game. Even at his young age, Maxwell shows poise in the pocket with good eyes and mind with the ball in his hand. Arm strength isn’t out of this world but from a frame perspective he looks ready to add critical strength and mass. Maxwell shows impressive accuracy for his age especially in the intermediate throw range. Not a burner speed wise, but moves the pocket well and won’t be considered a strict “pocket guy”. Expect to hear noise surrounding the Oxford QB as camp season rolls around. Good young prospect in a great program. Obvious D1 potential already.
