Half Moon Bay is coming off a win against Burlingame last weekend and has some talent returning that went toe to toe for a half against the powerhouse Serra in the first round of the CCS playoffs during the 2019 season. Menlo-Atherton is under new Head Coach Chris Saunders and is returning explosive playmakers, some of which hold Power Five offers and have signed with D-I schools. Below, we will break down some of the impact players in this game and take a look into their 2019 and 2020 off-season film.
Jayden Stanley-Menlo Atherton HS
Already signed with UC Davis, Stanley is one of two MA defensive backs that were offered by the Big Sky school. He and Thomas will be two of the top defensive backs not only in the NCS, but in the entire Northern California region this Spring.
Skyler Thomas-Menlo Atherton HS
One of the Bay Area’s top defensive backs with good length and natural ball skills, Thomas holds D-1 offers from UC Davis, UNLV and Northern Arizona.
Jeremiah Earby-Menlo Atherton HS
Earby is a long and rangy cover corner that can play off or press man. Comfortable in space and flashing good ball skills and high point ability, he can play anywhere in the secondary and has next level abilities as a third level defender.
Mone Langi-Menlo Atherton HS
An anchor on both sides of the line, Langi has terrific natural strength and strong hands at the point of attack. Athletic enough to two gap and moves well in space/laterally for his size, he wins with power and a low pad level and is a physical player upon contact.
David Sulunga-Menlo Atherton HS
One of the best OL/DL in the NCS, he will play at CSM next season. Multi year starter abilities in college.
Treavon Norton-Menlo Atherton HS
Another long and fluid DB for MA, Norton will play at Foothill college before going to a 4-year school.
Matt Macleod-Menlo Atherton HS
A extremely smart and patient signal caller, Macleod has a nice intermediate ball and can throw into tight windows while putting good zip on the ball vertically and throwing his receivers open. Also showing good pocket mobility and can throw across his body on the run, he will be a college level prospect and will have a big Junior season.
Eric Stuart-Menlo Atherton HS
Fast and athletic inside linebacker that is going to play at City College next season. Has FCS transfer athletic abilities after JUCO.
Semisi Mataele-Menlo Atherton HS
A very well built and powerful interior OL that can play at-least at the FCS level. Strong and violent at the point of attack and can sustain second level blocks and is athletic enough to pull and block in space.
Jalen Moss Jalen Moss 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Menlo-Athlerton | 2022 State CA -Menlo Atherton HS
Already holding offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Nebraska, Fresno State Arizona State among others, he is a Power Five recruit that is one of the top players in the state. Rated as a 3-Star prospect, Moss is explosive off the line and has outstanding ball skills with the ability to gain yards after the catch with a nice burst and short area quickness to make defender miss in space. Also flashing strong body control and high point ability, he is a top weapon for the Bears.
Thomas Taufui Thomas Taufui 5'9" | 185 lbs | ATH Menlo-Athlerton | 2022 State CA Jr.-Menlo Atherton HS
Another sure handed running back from MA that has a Power Five offer from ASU, Taufai is another big play and explosive pass catcher out of the backfield that can make plays in the open field and has a good first level burst and open field speed. Also a good adjuster to the ball in space and forces defenders to take bad angles, he will continue to develop into a FBS or FCS caliber prospect.
Tristan Hofmann-Half Moon Bay HS
One of the best overall football players in the entire Bay Area, Hofmann is a tackling machine that plays tough in the box and can cover/run in space and make plays side line to sideline. Also a tough runner, he has deceptive open field speed and can catch the ball while showing natural ball skills and high point ability. With over 100 tackles last season and a handful of TFL’s and sacks, Hofmann will continue his dominance across the CCS going into his Senior year.
Connor Quosig-Half Moon Bay HS
Quosig can play all over the field and is a dynamic returner. He shows great open field speed and can make defenders miss in open space with good lateral abilities abilities and short area quickness. He plays with good contact balance/vision and has cut back ability. One of the top athletes in the CCS, he has college level abilities at the D-II or D-III level.
William Moffitt-Half Moon Bay HS
The 2022 prospect is smart and athletic and a true dual-threat quarterback that plays with good deception and initial burst through the line. Not just a runner, he can push the ball downfield and scans the field through out his progressions while showing a quick release and good spin on the ball. A tremendous overall athlete, he can play multiple positions at the next level and will draw college interest over the next two seasons.
Sam Lowings-Half Moon Bay HS
Lowings is one of the top defenders in the entire CCS and Bay Area. An active outside linebacker with length and closing speed, he is a terrific open field tackler that takes good angles to ball carriers while able to cover/drop in space. Having a quick trigger and foot speed, he is a FCS level caliber prospect as he continues to add more size/weight.
