While it is not the biggest areas in the state, Pasco County – located just to the north of Tampa – has been making plenty of noise on the football field the past few years.
Whether it was the run that Mitchell had this past season – or the outstanding play from some emerging athletes, this is a region that is finally getting some well-deserved respect.
As teams get ready for spring, there are a number of gifted prospects who are attending camps and combines – as well as taking part in 7-on-7 events.
Even in a pandemic, the athletes have found a way to stay busy and put themselves in the spotlight at a time when the athletes need the exposure the most.
Today, we check out some of the quality in the area. Here are five standouts:
2023 - Aidan Marsh, DT/RB, Land O’ Lakes: What this 6-foot-3, 230-pounder means to this program is someone who can do it all and take control – even as a youngster. Whether it’s as a bruising running back who ran for 336 yards last season – or someone who can play on the defensive line and long snap as well -this is a solid talent that this program is excited about having back for two more years. In addition to football, he is a standout weight-lifter and throws the javelin, discus & shot put and holds down a 4.0 GPA.

2022 - [player_tooltip player_id="50166" first="Adrian" last="Miller"] III, JR., QB, Bishop McLaughlin An extremely versatile and dependable football player who exploded this past season for the Hurricanes – showcasing so many skills – including piling up over 1,700 yards of total offense for a program that continued to make some major strides. Because of his leadership and skill, this is a talent who will continue to get better and mature.

2023 - Julius Quinones, WR/CB, River Ridge: One of the top two-way prospects in the region. Someone who can play ultiple positions and lead by example – like he did this past season as a sophomore. Not only was he a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball – where he had four interceptions, but was very effective for this football program on the offense, playing receiver. Remember, he is young and has time to mature and grow.

2022 - Melvin Rivera, S, Hudson Fivay: One of the defensive standouts on a team that continued to get better and showcase more talent in the 2020 season. His impressive 79 tackles for the Falcons certainly gave this program something to be optimistic about – and 2021 could be even better – with quality playmakers like this. Many are looking forward to spring and summer to see how much more Rivera has improved.

2022 - Owen Walls, QB, Wesley Chapel Cypress Creek: Here is a talent that we talked about early in the 2020 season and as player who has a chance to do some huge things this coming season. This past year, he threw for 1,233 yards and 13 touchdowns and displayed plenty of leadership and talent during a season that was tough on everyone.
