Say hello to the new kids on the block. After having standout junior years, these 10 players made their way into the Top 100 of our Class of ’22 Player Rankings. Be sure to check them out this fall.
Drake Thatcher Drake Thatcher 6'4" | 200 lbs | TE Derby | 2022 State KS – Derby, 6’4”, 200, TE (Ranked No. 39)
Thatcher debuts in this update as the No. 1 ranked tight end in his class. He posses the skills to be a very solid receiving tight end at the next level. This past fall, Thatcher hauled in 17 catches for 315 yards and six touchdowns.
Ashton Barkdull Ashton Barkdull 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Andover Central | 2022 State KS – Andover Central, 6’0”, 180, RB (Ranked No. 43)
Barkdull has sprinter speed coming out of the backfield. He has the capability to take it to the house if defenses give him any space. Barkdull split carries in 2020, but he managed to rush for 803 yards, with an impressive 7.4 yards per carry, and he scored seven total touchdowns.
Calvin Sholey Calvin Sholey 6'2" | 270 lbs | DL Lansing | 2022 State KS – Lansing, 6’1”, 265, DL (Ranked No. 44)
Sholey comes in as the 6th ranked defensive lineman in this year’s class. He recorded 19 total tackles, two sacks and a blocked field goal this past season. His combination of quickness and strength will be on full display this year.
Evan Kammerer Evan Kammerer 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR St. Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State KS – St. Thomas Aquinas, 5’11”, 175, WR (Ranked No. 53)
Kammerer unfortunately had his junior season cut short due to injury, but he still managed to put together some solid film. He shows good fundamentals and he’s tough after the catch. Look for this wide out to have a bounce back year.
Sky Schriner Sky Schriner 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB McPherson | 2022 State KS – McPherson, 5’8”, 170, RB (Ranked No. 62)
Don’t let Schriner’s size fool you, this young man is a tough running back. He’s able to run between the tackles, and he has the speed to blow past defenders. Schriner is primed for a 1.000 yards season.
Cody Hawks Cody Hawks 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Eisenhower | 2022 State KS – Eisenhower, 6’1”, 220, LB (Ranked No. 79)
Hawks has the ability to be one of the top linebackers in the state this coming season. He racked up 90 total tackles, two sacks and an interception last fall. I’d expect for Hawks to be even better during his senior year.
Parker Kavanagh Parker Kavanagh 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Salina Central | 2022 State KS – Salina Central, 6’3”, 195, QB (Ranked No. 82)
Kavanagh will be an interesting quarterback to watch during the ’21 season. He’s athletic with solid mechanics and a good arm. I believe Kavanagh is capable of taking his game to another level and could possibly throw for 2,000 plus yards this fall.
Will Krzykowski Will Krzykowski 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB Olathe West | 2022 State KS – Olathe West, 6’1”, 185, DB (Ranked No. 83)
Krzykowski enters the rankings as the 7th ranked defensive back in this class. He does a good job of executing his assignment in zone coverage, and he takes the right angles when coming down against the run. Zrzykowski should have a strong senior year.
Braden Colley Braden Colley 6'0" | 215 lbs | TE Seaman High | 2022 State KS – Seaman, 6’0”, 215, TE (Ranked No. 87)
Colley is another good receiving tight end in this class. The Seaman product caught 20 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns during his junior year. He shows his athleticism after the catch and he is a solid run blocker.
Michael Solomon Michael Solomon 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB Blue Valley | 2022 State KS – Blue Valley, 5’8”, 165, RB (Ranked No. 97)
Blue Valley had a lot of talent on their roaster in 2020, so Solomon flew a little under the radar. He shouldn’t go unnoticed this year though. He’s a back that shows good vision and can make multiple defenders miss. Solomon should see an increase in his workload this fall.
