Imarion Kelly, 6’1″ 185lbs, Roosevelt HS (C/O 2022)
Kelly showed up to play during his 6 TD’s performance to beat Wilson High. The official yardage has yet to come out, but Kelly torched the Wilson defense through the air and on the ground. Dual threat kid that did an excellent job with his decision making all night. He’s a twitchy ball carrier with solid top end speed to make things happen on the ground. Through the air, Kelly did an excellent job throwing under pressure. He delivered throws with accuracy and was a nightmare for Wilson. Expect a big rest of the season from Kelly.
Cooper Gobel, 6’4″ 165lbs, Banks HS (C/O 2022)
Gobel is a name you’re going to want to remember. In his first varsity start, he threw for 267 yards and 5 TD’s to beat Astoria. He was poised and collected in the pocket while showing smooth footwork and mechanics. He threw well out of play action and did a tremendous job commanding the offense. His placement was excellent as he frequently hit receivers in stride with timing, or put the ball only where they could snag it. Definitely did not look like it was his first start, as he holds solid maturity with a high ceiling.
Dom Montiel Dom Montiel 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Marshfield | 2022 State OR , 6’3″ 185lbs, Marshfield HS (C/O 2022)
Montiel lit it up as he went 20-29 with 268 yards and 3 TD’s to beat Stayton 37-21. He stands tall and displays a good pocket presence while going through progression. One trait that stood out to me is his ability to adjust his arm angle to fit in tight throws. He did a good job throwing on the run in his dominant direction on designed rollouts. Montiel flashed his ability to escape the pocket and extend lays when the pocket breaks down, and shows a ton of potential going forward.
Logan Going Logan Going 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Grant | 2021 OR , 6’4″ 200lbs, Grant HS (C/O 2021)
Going threw for 3 TD’s to lead Grant to their first W of the year over Barlow. He went through progression well to then deliver accurate strikes to his receivers. He showed solid anticipation and patience in the pocket for routes and concepts to develop. Going was able to hit multiple throws with velocity and placement. He also did a good job picking up yards on his feet when he needed to. Solid week 1 performance for Going.
Carter Steeves, 6’1″ 170lbs, Corvallis HS (C/O 2022)
Steeves threw for 228 yards and 3 TD’s to get the week 1 victory to beat McKay 21-7. He does a good job making accurate reads and is a solid all around athlete behind center. Steeves stepped up big for Corvallis, and will have to continue on the same trajectory to next week against West Albany.
