Eight Man Showcase Ball Carriers

One awesome trait of Eight-Man football is that huge rushing numbers can be rolled up. There was no shortage of Eight-Man backs who posted such large totals in 2020. Here is a look at five ball carriers who posted big numbers from in the Class of 2022. <strong>Isaac Mendez, 5’10”, 170, Wheatland Grinnell </strong>– The Thunderhawks were led in rushing by Mendez. The speedster finished with 1,607 rushing yards in the 2020 season. He scored 29 touchdowns on the ground and 32 total. He can break ankles and tackles. Mendez is a solid prospect and will look to improve over the course of the offseason. <strong>Colby Stull, 5’8”, 150, Lacrosse </strong>– The Leopards were a feel-good story in 2020, and part of that storyline was the production of Stull. He rushed for 1,519 yards and had an impressive 10-plus yards-per-carry average. He found the end zone 32 times as a rusher and finished with 36 total. He also finished with 49 tackles from his free safety position. Western Kansas schools will not want to let Stull getaway. <strong>Jesus Cassas, 5’11”, 150, Skyline </strong>– Cassas is an enjoyable athlete to watch play. He rushed for 1,321 yards in 2020. The Thunderbird back also caught 29 balls in the passing game for 531 yards. Cassas racked up 30 total touchdowns, 21 of which came on the ground. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="111758" first="Gatlin" last="Jewell"], 6’0”, 150, South Barber </strong>– Jewell is a dual-threat quarterback who rushed for 1,200-plus yards and 18 touchdowns. He also threw for 800-plus yards and 14 touchdowns. He surpassed the 200-yard mark rushing in three separate games. He has a strong arm and understands the game. <strong>Mason Schurr, 5’8”, 140, Osborne </strong> – Schurr rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 15 touchdowns on the ground for the Bulldogs. He also had 81 tackles on the defensive side. Schurr is a tough-nosed athlete with a lot of playing experience.
