Early analysis of the top quarterbacks on the 2024 Watchlist. [player_tooltip player_id="115512" first="Jason" last="Franklin"], Liberty, 5’9” 120 lbs. A developing dual threat QB with a live arm and plus athleticism. Thin build at this point but has plenty of time and room to add weight as he matures. Flashes good footwork and throwing mechanics from the pocket with a smooth over the top release. He’s a consistent passer that shows good anticipation and timing with his receivers. Good pocket mobility, he’s elusive when feeling pressure and creative when he gets outside the pocket. He can throw on the run or tuck it and make a play using his speed and quickness in the open field. [player_tooltip player_id="115513" first="Titus" last="Johnson"], Millennium, 6’1” 215 lbs. Big strong build at 6’1” 215 lbs. He’s a dynamic playmaker that can move the chains with his arm and his legs. He’s a natural passer with a smooth and effortless throwing motion. Possesses a strong arm capable of making accurate passes at all three depths with good velocity and trajectory. Love his ability to stretch the field vertically and throw the deep ball. Extremely dangerous as a ball carrier where he is tough to tackle using his athleticism and strength to run through contact and pick up big chunks of yards. Very intriguing young prospect that has good upside as a college prospect. [player_tooltip player_id="115514" first="Cy" last="Lumbano-Larson"], Casteel, 5’11” 150 lbs. Had a very productive and efficient season as a freshman where he showed great potential. Good overall pocket presence, he’s very composed and stands tall in the pocket with a well-balanced throwing platform that is ready for a quick delivery. He shows he can be accurate and hit his spots all over the field but excels at getting the ball out quickly and in stride at the short/intermediate levels to allow his receivers to run after the catch. Doesn’t take away from his deep ball touch and arm strength. Good ability extend plays by escaping pressure and throw on the run to either direction. One to watch in the strong Casteel program. Zayden Neil, San Tan Charter, 6’1” 160 lbs. A very talented and smooth QB that showed continued improvement as a freshmen starter on varsity. Possesses a ton of natural ability combined with strong fundamentals and mechanics. He’s clean and precise with his footwork in the pocket but flashes the athleticism to escape to throw on the run or pull it down to make a play with his legs. The ball jumps out of his hand, he shows he can put it on a line with velocity or stretch the defense vertically. He’s impressive and instinctual when improvising/extending broken plays. Does a good job seeing the whole field and anticipating his targets coming open. Has a lot of tools that colleges look for in a QB and has potential to be a D1 recruit if he continues on the same trajectory. [player_tooltip player_id="115517" first="Noah" last="Trigueros"], Notre Dame, 6’2” 165 lbs. A good frame to build on with length as he continues to develop at 6’2” 165 lbs. He’s a good athlete but shows comfort sitting in the pocket waiting for plays to develop, keeping his eyes downfield to see coverage and locate a target. He’s a very instinctual passer that is capable of mixing up velocities to throw a catchable ball while also making accurate off platform passes. Good speed, balance, and fluidity as a ball carrier both on designed runs and when escaping pressure. He’s a quality college prospect with a bright future. Giordan Hanks, Mountain View, 6’4" 185 lbs. Other QB’s to watch: [player_tooltip player_id="115511" first="Beau" last="Devens"], Canyon View, 6’2” 150 lbs. Giordan Hanks, Mountain View, 6’4" 185 lbs. [player_tooltip player_id="123197" first="Connor" last="Ackerley"], Corona Del Sol, 5’11” 155 lbs. [player_tooltip player_id="115518" first="Enoch" last="Watson"], Coconino, 5’11” 155 lbs.
