Prep Redzone looks at the current prospect rankings for Maryland’s 2022 recruiting class. They postponed the 2020 high school football season to this spring because of COVID-19. Most of these players have not completed their junior season of football yet. Based on some research, you’ll see some changes after the next rankings update by Prep Redzone.
For now, let’s look at where things stand in the 2022 Maryland Football Prospect Rankings.

<strong>No. 37 [player_tooltip player_id="90533" first="DeOnte" last="Malone"] Ι 6-0 Ι 175 Ι Defensive Back Ι St. Frances Academy</strong>
Malone is the No. 12 defensive back in the state. Right now, his lone offer is from Buffalo. His high school team did not play in the fall and now will play a few games this spring. Malone plays cornerback for his high school team.
<strong>No. 36 [player_tooltip player_id="90532" first="Lavain" last="Scruggs"] Ι 6-2 Ι 185 Ι Defensive Back Ι Archbishop Spalding</strong>
Scruggs has seen a surge in his recruitment since the start of 2021. Buffalo, Liberty, Maryland, UMass, Air Force, Navy, and Temple have all offered him in the past couple of months. He has a great shot at being bumped up several spots during the next ranking update. Scruggs, who plays safety for his team, is the No. 11 defensive back in the stat<strong>e. </strong>
<strong>No. 35 [player_tooltip player_id="90531" first="Shon" last="Reid"] Ι 5-10 Ι 200 Ι Linebacker Ι Archbishop Carroll</strong>
Reid is the No. 3 linebacker in the state. He has an offer from UMass and Temple and is being looked at as an inside linebacker at the next level.
<strong>No. 34 [player_tooltip player_id="90530" first="Jude" last="Bowry"] Ι 6-5 Ι 265 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι St. Frances Academy</strong>
Bowry is the No. 10 defensive lineman in the state. He is being recruited as a defensive tackle. Bowry recently received an offer from Ball State. He also has an offer from both UMass and Liberty. I believe his recruitment will skyrocket in the next few months after he gets some more junior year game film<strong>. </strong>
<strong>No. 33 [player_tooltip player_id="90529" first="Javontae" last="Woods"] Ι 6-0 Ι 170 Ι Defensive Back Ι St. Frances Academy</strong>
Woods, who plays cornerback, is the No. 10 defensive back in the state. He has an offer from Buffalo, Boston College, and Ball State. His recruitment is about to take off.
<strong>No. 32 [player_tooltip player_id="90528" first="Jalen" last="Robertson"] Ι 6-4 Ι 240 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι Archbishop Spalding</strong>
Robertson has an offer from Maryland, UMass, Liberty, and Morgan State. He is getting interest from Temple, ECU, Coastal Carolina, Pitt, and ODU. Robertson, who plays defensive end, is the No. 9 defensive linemen in the state.
<strong>No. 31 [player_tooltip player_id="90527" first="Rene" last="Miller"] Ι 6-5 Ι 320 Ι Offensive Tackle Ι St. Frances Academy</strong>
Miller previously played at Hodgson Vo-Tech High School in Delaware before transferring to St. Frances Academy. He has an offer from Liberty. He’s listed in our rankings as an offensive tackle, despite playing defensive tackle for his high school team. Miller is the No. 4 offensive lineman in the state.
