After being born in Tupelo, MS, 2023 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="108967" first="Kyson" last="Brown"] spent his middle school years in Dallas, Texas. Prior to high school, Brown and his mother moved back to Tupelo and Brown began his career at Tupelo High School. A starting running back for the Golden Wave as a sophomore, Brown ran for 682 yards and scored 11 times. Following the season, he began to receive college interest from multiple universities. "Arkansas, Mississippi State, Troy, Carthage, and a couple JuCos have expressed interest, but no official offers yet," said Brown. Growing up a Georgia Bulldogs fan, Brown says that UGA would be his dream school to play at. Now the talented junior is on the move again, as he has recently begun school at Lancaster High in Lancaster, Texas. His new school is getting an incredibly gifted athlete. Brown has the versatility to play on either side of the ball, both at safety and at running back. His freshman year at Tupelo, he played safety and some nickel. But Brown got the call to play RB as his sophomore year began. "As a running back I really don’t model my game after any particular player, but a lot of people say I remind them of Derrick Henry when I play," said Brown regarding his first year playing offense. Those people aren’t necessarily wrong. Brown’s tall and long frame give him the length to stiff arm defenders and keep them away. His speed builds up over time and he kicks it into a homerun gear when he gets to the second level. Brown plays strong and bounces off contact with ease. Grabbing him with one hand isn’t gonna work, as the big back can shred through arm tackle attempts. Coaches have to load the box up front in order to bring Brown to a stop. As far as his future is concerned, [player_tooltip player_id="108967" first="Kyson" last="Brown"] hopes to play safety again. "I’ve played every position and safeties are like the quarterback of the defense, so I know how a running back thinks or a receiver, tight end and even a quarterback thinks. I feel like to be great safety, you have to be mentally aware of every person on the field, and I feel like when I’m on that field as a safety I can do all these things," said Brown about his position. While his new coaches at Lancaster haven’t specified which position he will play for them, it will be tough to not start Brown as a two way player. As great of a RB he is, Brown’s rare size, speed, and strength combination could make him an even more dangerous player at the safety position. Even though we wish Brown could keep playing in Mississippi, it’s hard to not root for a ’Sip boy trying to take on a brand new challenge. Look for [player_tooltip player_id="108967" first="Kyson" last="Brown"] to be playing at the next level somewhere soon, but always list his hometown as Tupelo, Mississippi. HUDL LINK
