Khamauri Rogers Khamauri Rogers 6'1" | 160 lbs | DB Holmes County | 2022 State MS | Holmes County
At this point in the game Rogers has the most impressive offer sheet of any defensive back prospect in state and rightfully so. The rising senior showcases great reactive athleticism in the pass game while also showcasing an effective willingness to make tackles in the run game. Rogers has the length you covet at a corner position with a frame that looks able to add mass without sacrificing quickness/speed. A great mixture of instinct with athletic ability is present. Fluid overall skillset that translates well to the next level. Rogers will be one of the top prospects in state for the class of 2022 and will have the opportunity to sign and contribute early wherever he chooses.
Dontavious Howard Dontavious Howard 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Oak Grove | 2022 State MS | Oak Grove
Oak Grove has become a prospect generating powerhouse over the last decade and has another one on the way with Howard, who has experienced a rather quiet recruitment up to this point. Physicality and swagger that is synonymous with being a CB at the next level is seen in Howard and his prototype style frame. Howard succeeds in one on one matchups due to his combination of length and speed. In a position where athleticism is a must, the 2022 senior checks boxes. Look for this recruitment to blow up quickly and result in Power 5 offers as the summer nears. Howard is the type of guy that will “wow” scouts in camps and 7 on 7 action and subsequently see his offer list take off.
Jaterrious Elam Jaterrious Elam 6'2" | 170 lbs | DB Greenville Christian | 2022 State MS | Greenville Christian School
The recent Mississippi State commit has contributed to helping Greenville Christian posses one of the strongest defenses in state. Elam takes a technical approach to the game with enough pure athleticism to project at either the safety or cornerback position. Good length is present in Elam’s low cut frame, which allows him to get arms in throwing lanes even when a step behind. The recent Bulldog pledge reacts well to schemes and sets from the opposing offense and always seems to be in the right position when the ball goes into the air. Although his skillset shows areas for growth, Elam already takes advantage of QB’s by baiting throws. College coaching and strength programs will help turn Elam into a future dynamic defender at the next level.
Koye Hardaway Koye Hardaway 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Newton County | 2022 State MS | Newton County
The most fluid athletic ability on this list likely belongs to Hardaway, who shows film at all DB positions, although he most likely projects as a safety. The Newton County 2022 prospect pops off the tape due to his combination of coverage ability as well as run stopping prowess. Hardaway does a great job maintaining foot balance without losing above average change of direction skills. Often over-looked attributes like tackling show good form even with an apparent aggressive mindset. Expect to see big senior year numbers from Hardaway as he comes off a junior campaign with 70 tackles and 7 forced turnovers. Any Group of 5 team should be giving serious consideration to extending an offer in his direction soon.
Zae Davis Zae Davis 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Biggersville | 2022 State MS | Biggersville
Fresh off a junior campaign that saw him land on the 1A MAC All-State 1st team, expect to see a huge senior year upcoming for Davis. Film is nothing short of exciting as he can be found lining up all over the field for the reigning 1A state runner-up. The two sport star projects as either a CB or SS with great physical attributes to match his smooth overall athletic skillset. A thorough understanding of role is present no matter what position lined up at. The vision of Davis is apparent both with the ball in his hand as well as while defending. Overall, Davis is a physical kid with enough athleticism to hold his own in any situation. This is the type of kid that simply makes the team better. Expect to see Group of 5 offers soon for Davis.
