Every single one of these guys was an extremely capable runner who could take it the distance. Here’s an inside look at those prospects!
Mike DePillo Mike DePillo 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Clarkston | 2022 State MI , 6’5, 200, Clarkston
What sticks out to me most on tape about Mike is his ability as a runner. He can lower his shoulder and run between the tackles but can also bounce a run outside and get to the perimeter. As a passer, he gradually works through his progression, looking for a possible target. He shows calm feet in the pocket & can get out and extend when things breakdown. He’s a natural throwing on the run and consistently placed the ball right on his wideouts numbers when throwing to his weak side.
Brandon Mann Brandon Mann 6'4" | 225 lbs | QB Detroit Country Day | 2022 State MI , 6’4, 215, Country Day
Mann has a ton of zip behind his ball and can get it out of his hand quickly. On tape, he does a good job of selling play-action, setting his feet, before releasing a strike downfield. He’s an impressive immediate level thrower who understands the holes in zone coverage and where his wideouts will throttle down in them. Mann has some wheels behind him as well, and it wasn’t uncommon to see him gash defenses on the ground as a runner.
Kyler Carson Kyler Carson 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Lake Orion | 2022 MI , 6’2, 190, Lake Orion
A strong touch thrower with exceptional timing. Carson runs the quarterback counter like a polished veteran and is a true dual-threat through and through. He’s a shifty runner in the open field and can run through arm tackles. He will consistently finish off runs by lowering his shoulder and barreling through a defender. On tape, he throws well on the move and makes sprint out throws look easy.
Vinny Booth Vinny Booth 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Harper Woods | 2022 State MI , 6’3, 190 Harper Woods
Booth is like a magician; when things break down, he always seems to find a way to make something happen. He’ll have instances where defenders are draped all over him, but he consistently gets the ball out and into his playmaker’s hands. He shows good ball placement and the ability to fit the football into tight windows. When Booth leaves the pocket, he’ll do so with his eyes downfield, looking for a potential target. To me, he’s at his best when he escapes the pocket and has the option to throw or run.
Larry Robinson II Larry Robinson II 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Saline | 2022 State MI , 6’, 175, Saline
This young man is electric with the ball in his hands and can flat out fly. Robinson has the speed to outrun angles and the wiggle to make attempted tacklers miss. His touch and anticipation as a thrower are exceptional as well. Robinson throws the back shoulder fade with ease, giving only his wideout the chance to make a play. He calmly slides up and laterally throughout the pocket, looking for someone to hit in stride.
Bryson Huckeby Bryson Huckeby 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Freeland | 2022 MI , 6’4, 190, Freeland
A physical runner with overall good athletic ability. This kid is tough to bring down and can get you a ton of yards after contact. Bryson can make throws out of multiple different arm angles and off different platforms. He’s a strong option quarterback who honestly could play in any system based on his skillset. He reads coverages well and can hit the holeshot in cover 2 effectively. He’s got clean footwork in the pocket and transitions his weight well to deliver a ball downfield.
