Obviously, this pandemic has a lot to do with it, but even during Covid, gifted prospects shouldn’t go unnoticed. Not this long.
As in the case of any list that is made – they are often subjective, as best, so understand that while rankings are a piece of any conversation – the validity of them is often met with mixed reaction.
Because we live in such a world where opinions pretty much carry a lot of weight, coming out of that box and doing your own thinking will also end in positive results as well.
With several impressive receivers that are already household names in this class, there are others who are starting to turn heads – whether they are catching passes in a 7-on-7 event or combine setting – or showing off their many skills at an exposure camp.
Today, we take a look at some of the up-and-coming receivers for this class that may be under the radar, for now.
Jeremiah Connelly Jeremiah Connelly WR Orlando Edgewater | 2022 FL , Orlando Edgewater. A classic slot back who can do so many things that he is indeed the go-to guy on passing downs or to utilize his gifts with a “jet sweep”, enabling him to break a long play. They will also shift him into the backfield as well and even line him up at the “wildcat” quarterback position. He is lightning in a bottle for this program, looking to reach the 7A state finals for the third straight year in 2021.

Donovan Giles Donovan Giles WR Cocoa | 2022 FL , Cocoa. At 6-5, 185, this is someone who can flat-out hurt you in so many ways if you are a defender. First of all, there are very few defensive backs who are tall enough – let alone athletic enough to stop him when the ball is thrown up. In addition, also being able to play quarterback, he is extremely athletic and uses his quickness in space. This is a talented young man who is just starting to learn the position, and as he matures, he will discover what he has physically, and then – watch out! His 3.75 GPA in the classroom is truly impressive as well, making him that well-rounded student/athletes.

Drelin Pittman Drelin Pittman WR Tampa Gaither | 2022 FL , Tampa Gaither. This is one of the premier pass-catchers in the state of Florida – and with Power-5 interest already, keep your eyes on this versatile (running back) pass catcher who combines speed and instincts. What “Speedy” likes to do is create mismatches, lining up in the backfield and having a linebacker cover him on “wheel” routes and up field passes. The young man is indeed electric.

Shayon Walton Shayon Walton WR Hialeah Champagnat Catholic | 2022 FL , Hialeah Champagnat Catholic. There are a lot of amazing receivers in this class, but there are also prospects who shine every time they are in the spotlight. Here is one of those play-makers who loves the game, plays it at a high level and when all is said and done, should be considered one of Florida’s best. This is the ultimate receiver, who runs, catches and finds the end zone His coaches will tell you – and so will the opposition.

Eric Weatherly Eric Weatherly WR St. Johns Bartram Trail | 2022 FL , St. Johns Bartram Trail. Here is definitely a young man everyone should know – because no matter what position you like – there is a chance that this impressive football talent can play it. Receiver, running back, wide receiver, slot receiver, kick returner, punt returner and if you need him on defense, he will tell you: “I can play anything!” What a weapon that numerous colleges have been on for a while now.
