Continue ReadingFor decades, the Orlando area tried many things to raise the talent bar – when it came to producing football players and teams.
Many had waited for programs to reach the level where they were competing for state championships and sending football talent on to the next level.
Now, with so many Orlando programs doing well – and getting “`teams to state title games as well as playing a major role on National Signing Day, sending their football talent all over the nation.
Just as the region is feeling comfortable as being one of the hot spots for talent each year – the suburbs, areas away from Orlando and into communities that are proud of their student/athletes who have more than put some programs on the map.
Today, we bring you five rising seniors (2022) from cities outside of the Orlando city limits, although they are ALL thought of as “Orlando” schools:
Giovanni Bayron, LB, St. Cloud. What makes this young man so special – is his versatility. While he is an outstanding linebacker, his 5-11, 190-pound frame also provides him an opportunity to use athletic ability to run the ball.On defense, it’s all about his ability to make plays and recognize the flow of the play. He has the quickness and strength to make plays. He is really quick to the ball – because he is a smart player who can read – and that is something that takes plenty of film study and practice to achieve. Solid football player – as he will continue to show in 2021.

Sabari Boone, FB/LB, Leesburg. When he runs the ball, you had better be prepared to wrap up and hold on. This young man is not only strong, but his legs never stop churning and is a chore to bring down. Short yardage back who should be able to score every time he touches the ball down near the end zone. He is also a tremendous blocker who paves the way for the running game. On defense, he will bruise you from his linebacker position. He hits, runs and makes plays, but if you happen to be looking for a productive fullback, here is your man at 5-10, 220!

Drake Harwell, LB, Lake Minneola. Another impressive prospect, who had the chance to be one of the leaders on a team that reached the 6A state finals for the first time in school history. With 114 tackles (47 solo), 22 tackles for loss, four sacks and three fumble recoveries, this was one of the best in Florida this past season – and is receiving plenty of attention for his impressive play.

Chad Mascoe Chad Mascoe 6'0" | 220 lbs | QB Kissimmee Osceola | 2022 State FL , QB, Kissimmee Osceola. Following in the footsteps his father blazed a few generations ago for this program, this gifted athlete has been on the radar screen for nearly a decade – as a youth standout in Georgia. Started to really come into his own this past season – as a passer as well as someone who can do some damage with his legs. His maturity is showing through, and as the Kowboys rode to the 8A state finals, here is a talent who can bring them back in 2021.

Gunnar Smith, QB, Lake Mary. At 6-4 and headed toward 200 pounds, this strong arm passer is someone that has been on the radar for nearly two year – and is coming off a tremendous season, boosting him into the spotlight. Put up over 4,300 yards and 44 touchdowns the past two seasons as he is emerging into a national prospect with interest coming from all over. A few off-season events, spring and team events and this will be one of the hottest properties in Florida for the Class of 2022.
