The state of Arkansas has talent at the quarterback position, but it seems to be flying under the radar as we approach seven-on-seven play. Like with the other articles offensive line and wide receivers, we will break the 2022 class up into sections, that way all of the quarterbacks get an examination.
Austin Myers Austin Myers 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Vilonia | 2022 State AR out of Vilonia is looking to bounce back from an injury shortened season in 2020. Before the injury to his thumb, Myers had plenty of zip on the ball and was accurate with the intermediate and deep routes. He shows good mobility in the pocket and he keeps his eyes down field and is always looking to make a big play. Myers has scholarship offers from Kansas and Middle Tennessee State and is sure to earn some more over the next few months.
The central part of Arkansas continues to produce talented quarterbacks and that term accurately describes Searcy quarterback Ckyler Tengler Ckyler Tengler 6'5" | 210 lbs | QB Searcy | 2022 State AR . Tengler is one of those quarterbacks that does a good job of progressing through his wide receiver’s routes. He has a strong arm and does a good job on the deep and intermediate routes. Tengler is an intelligent quarterback and he knows when to use his legs to extend the drive and pick up first downs. Tengler is going to be a quarterback that scouts will want to keep an eye on throughout the offseason and especially during the 2021 season.
Both quarterbacks we have looked at thus far are both extremely versatile. Alma quarterback Hunter McAlister Hunter McAlister 6'6" | 190 lbs | QB Alma | 2022 State AR is another quarterback that can get out of the pocket and cause problems for the opposing defense. McAlister does a good job of extending the play and keeping his eyes down the field to find a wide receiver. He is another quarterback that is not afraid to use his legs to pick up a first down. McAlister is a quarterback with tremendous potential, and he has an opportunity to make some noise in 2021. Fans and scouts should keep an eye on him during seven-on-seven play and during the offseason to see how the Alma quarterback is developing.
Ammorrion Dempsey Ammorrion Dempsey 6'0" | 160 lbs | QB Hope | 2022 State AR out of Hope, is a nightmare for opposing defenses to attempt to defend. Dempsey does a fantastic job of using his legs to create big plays. The Hope coaching staff does a great job of creating plays for Dempsey and allowing him to use his talent to create big plays. He has an accurate arm and can fit the ball into some tight situations. Dempsey has talent at multiple positions, and I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish this coming season.
Closing out part one of our look at the 2022 Arkansas quarterbacks is Fayetteville quarterback Bladen Fike Bladen Fike 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR . Fike has excellent arm strength and can fit the ball into any passing lane. We got a taste of what Fike could accomplish last season. He threw for 1,779 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only 6 interceptions last season. Fike has tremendous potential and can make all of the throws that a division one quarterback makes. Fike is a perfect way to close out the first set of quarterbacks we are going to examine. Stay tuned for part two!
