These players portrayed game changing skills on film and helped their defenses tremendously through the season. The growth of the players below this offseason and into next season will be crucial for their futures in the sport. I believe these will be names we will season often next season so familiarize yourself with them.
Kristopher Ross – North Shore
Ross is a force in in the interior line. Possesses a quick step off the ball and shows very good strength. Ross can dictate a game in the trenches and is extremely talented. Controls blocks very well and can shed them with ease as well as beat them with his quickness. Good lateral speed and keeps the play in front of him. Ross shows a very good motor on film. Does not give up on plays and chases down ball carriers. As of now, Ross holds 5 offers but expect him to rack up much more. He is a player who will only get better and will make a statement next year.
Lukia Rawls – Klein Cain
Rawls is a standout on the Hurricane defense. Shows flashes of dominance on the line and can change the momentum of a game in the blink of an eye. Quick off the ball and uses hands very well. Rawls shows very good athleticism for the position and moves incredibly well on the line. His feet are always moving and he never remains blocked for long. Rawls not only shows his speed and quickness, but he has great strength. He can bully centers and guards with ease we he chooses so. Rawls is definitely a player who will be making some noise his senior year. Expect to hear his name frequently next season and get familiar with it.
DeMone Green DeMone Green 6'2" | 250 lbs | DL Heights | 2022 State TX – Heights
Green plays as an end in a 3-4 defensive scheme but has the strength and skill to play in the interior. He shows good speed and physicality. Green has a nose for the ball and is never blocked for long. He has the quickness to blow by lineman and meet ball carriers in the backfield. Green plays the run game very well and holds his own on double teams. He is an absolute disruptor of the mesh points on options and a headache for the opposition. With 4 offers in his pocket and 2 being from SEC schools, expect Green to turn it up a notch and deliver for his senior year.
Beau Edwards – Episcopal
Edwards has a very dominating play style. Through only 6 games, he made a solid impact for his defense. Shows incredible strength with his ability to fight through double teams and to not get pushed back. Has a good punch and locks arms out to see the play happen. Edwards is physical and shows some finesse with certain line stunts. Can jump the snap very well and uses his hands well to dictate blocks. Edwards sheer power and will is shown on film. He continues to fight through all blocks until he makes his way to the ball. He is a grinder and you have to love it. Edwards does not allow himself to be taken out of plays and will defeat any block to make the play. He will be a player to keep an eye on and to track his development throughout the season. He is key to the Episcopal defense.
Devin Price – Yates
Price is a handful for opposing line. He is a two way player who uses his size to power through players. On the defensive side, Price runs through blocks. Has a good jump on the ball and after that it is near impossible to stop his pursuit. Price is a nightmare in the run game with his ability to close running lanes. He shows flashes of his quickness as well and has another gear when getting to the ball. His development will be key for next season. Price can be something special if he puts the work in and has the potential to be dominant on the defensive side of the ball.
