The 2020 season is in the books and the calendar has flipped to 2021 so why don’t we start looking ahead to the 2021 season? We’ll have plenty of coverage during the offseason, from recruiting to 7v7 content. But right now, we’re putting out our way WAY too early rankings for the 2021 season. We’ll have another ranking that comes out in late May and our official preseason rankings will drop in August. But like we mentioned, it’s never too early to start looking ahead, even though these rankings feel way WAY too early. Take a look at who we like in 2021 in each class from 6A-A.
CLASS 6A-1
1) OWASSO
– Owasso returns a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball and the Rams are loaded for another run at the championship.
2) UNION
Union bounced back in a big way after a slow start to the year in 2020. They’ll look to get back to contending for gold balls in 2021.
3) JENKS
– Defending champion Jenks comes in at #3 after big losses to graduation. Despite having a ton of new faces, Trojans will still contend.
4) EDMOND SANTA FE
– Santa Fe made it all the way to the title game but had to settle for silver. They’ll once again be in the hunt for the title in 2021.
5) BROKEN ARROW
– The Tigers have a new head coach in Josh Blankenship and Broken Arrow’s expectations continue to get higher and higher.
6) MUSTANG
7) NORMAN NORTH
8) YUKON
9) WESTMOORE
10) SOUTHMOORE
CLASS 6A-2
1) BIXBY
– Bixby comes into 2021 with a 36-game winning streak and a new quarterback. Can Bixby capture a fourth straight title?
2) CHOCTAW
– Choctaw might have surprised some in 2020 but they’ll surprise none in 2021 as they are once again title contenders.
3) BOOKER T WASHINGTON
– The Hornets will once again be in the mix in 2021 with a wealth of juniors and sophomores that are some of the best in Oklahoma.
4) MIDWEST CITY
– Midwest City surprised some by making a semifinal run in 2020. The Bombers have a talented roster returning for another run.
5) STILLWATER
– The Pioneers lose a lot of talent and experience to graduation and Stillwater will certainly look like a different team in the new year.
6) PUTNAM CITY NORTH
7) DEL CITY
8) SAND SPRINGS
9) LAWTON
10) MUSKOGEE
CLASS 5A
1) CARL ALBERT
– Carl Albert starts at the top in their pursuit of a 6th straight title but they’ll have a new face under center for the first time since 2016.
2) COLLINSVILLE
– Collinsville’s big three of Carney, Gilkey and Hammond returns and keeps the Cardinals as a big contender in Class 5A.
3) McALESTER
– The Buffaloes finished the year hotter than a lot of teams in the state and will take that momentum into the new season.
4) COWETA
– The Tigers are coming off a district title but they have to replace some key pieces on both sides to make another playoff run.
5) ARDMORE
– A young and talented Ardmore team could emerge as a state contender once again and stay there for a few seasons.
6) BISHOP McGUINNESS
7) EL RENO
8) BISHOP KELLEY
9) GUTHRIE
10) EDISON
CLASS 4A
1) CUSHING
– Cushing has some of the best young talent in Class 4A and they took the first step in 2020, the next step is a state title.
2) TUTTLE
– Despite having a young roster in 2020, the Tigers were still a contender and that will remain the same as they head into the new year.
3) HILLDALE
– Hilldale is very happy about the underclassmen that are already impacting the team and the Hornets have a very bright future.
4) WAGONER
– Defending champion Wagoner might take a small step back. After dominating in 2020, the Bulldogs have to reload in 2021.
5) GROVE
– Similar to Cushing and Hilldale, Grove has some of the better 2023 prospects in the state that will give them an advantage.
6) CLINTON
7) POTEAU
8) NEWCASTLE
9) SKIATOOK
10) BETHANY
CLASS 3A
1) HOLLAND HALL
– Dutch dominated on their way to a title in 2020. They bring back plenty of talent to make another run at the state championship.
2) VERDIGRIS
– The 2023 class at Verdigris is one of the best in school history. They all return and they’ll be hungry to push Holland Hall.
3) LINCOLN CHRISTIAN
– Lincoln will be hungry to get back to another state title game and having QB

– Similar to Lincoln, Heritage Hall will have some new faces but they return an absolute playmaker in
Gavin Freeman

5) BERRYHILL

6) KINGSTON
7) ANADARKO
8) STIGLER
9) KINGFISHER
10) VINITA
CLASS 2A
1) METRO CHRISTIAN
– We won’t make the same mistake here. Metro loses a lot of skill players but as we learned in 2020, the Patriots just reload.
2) JONES
– Jones returns three-year starter at quarterback in
Carson May

but don’t expect them to take a step back with another Drummond set to take over at QB1.
3) RINGLING
– Head coach Phil Koons has his program in place with Ringling and you have to assume that the Blue Devils will be in the mix yet again.
4) MOORELAND
– Mooreland took the first step to contending in 2020 and behind a strong running game, they’ll look for even more in 2021.
5) WAYNE
