announced his commitment to USC on Saturday during the All-American Bowl Declaration Day broadcast on NBC.
Wright is the No. 1 defensive back in the state according to Prep Redzone and the No. 9 overall prospect in the class.
He chose USC over Jackson State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oregon.
“Honestly, the decision was based probably more for off the field reasons than on the field ones,” Wright told Greg Biggins of 247Sports. “From a football standpoint, of course I like the program, coaching staff and the direction things are going but I took football out of the equation, looked at all the schools and USC is where I think I can be the most successful.”
“When I did that, USC was the clear winner for me. USC has a a great Business program and the networking at USC is tough to beat. Plus I’ve already started to build my own network and brand out here. i have a movie coming out next year and with the name, image and likeness coming to college and all the people I know, USC just made so much sense for me.”

Wright is pursuing an acting career and is playing the son of LeBron James in the upcoming Space Jam movie coming out in 2021.
On the field, Wright sees an opportunity to get some early playing time at USC. The Trojans’ starting cornerback Olaijah Griffin declared for the NFL draft on New Years Day.
Wright told Biggins that USC was not always leading the pack during his recruitment.

“Early on in the process, I really liked Stanford a lot,” Wright told Biggins. “Then I took some visits out of state and really liked Notre Dame a lot. I was really close with Todd Lyght, the old DB coach and was leaning there at the time but when he left, I never felt that same connection.”
“I liked Michigan a lot too and really liked Oregon. Coach Chance at Oregon is a great guy and they really recruited me hard. I was really thinking about Oregon hard late in the process but the more I thought about it and weighed everything, USC just rose to the top for me.”
USC head coach Clay Helton was heavily involved in recruiting Wright as was defensive backs coach Donte Williams.

Wright also was familiar with a lot of the recruits in USC’s 2021 recruiting class. He has played against a few of the players in the class and has participated in camps with several of the other recruits.

“It’s just a good all around fit on the field and off the field. I’m close with a lot of the recruits that are coming in and even though that didn’t play a huge role, it’s just another added bonus,” Wright said. “It just adds to the comfort level I already have so I’m excited to be a Trojan.”
