These prospects are all uncommitted, unsigned and waiting to collect their first offer as the second and final signing day looms near for the class of 2021.
LB Zack Moran 6’1″ 200 Ibs., Cardinal Newman HS
Anchoring the perimeter for the 2020 State Champion Cardinals, Moran is a versatile defender that is still developing and has the physical tools to make an impact at the collegiate level as he continues to develop. During his Junior season, Moran was a very sound second level edge defender with enough hip fluidity and lateral movement ability to drop in coverage while having a quick trigger to ball carriers and bringing a good thump at the point of attack. Moran also flashed quick play recognition and is a strong tackler in space while taking good angles to ball carriers and possesses the ability to rush and naturally bend off the edge and be effective while rushing the passer. Due to his top speed, range and overall athleticism and versatility, he projects as an outside linebacker or a boundary/strong safety at the next level.
Colby Furia 6’1″ 175 Ibs., St. Vincent de Paul HS
Having a very productive off-season and currently rated as a 2-star prospect by 247-Sports, Furia currently holds an offer from NAIA McPherson College and roster spot offers from Pacific University and the University of La Verne. During his Junior season, Furia showed good pocket presence and mobility with the ability to throw accurate intermediate passes while on the run and did a good job at taking what the defense gave him and checking down. Also not afraid to step up in the pocket and deliver accurate short passes into tight windows, he displayed solid arm strength with good velocity on deeper throws while being able to throw receivers open while pushing the ball downfield. Although more of a Pro-Style quarterback, he is athletic enough to scramble and make plays with his legs and throw on the run.
LB Damon Gerstein 6’0″ 180 Ibs., Redwood HS
The Marin county product currently holds D-III roster spot offers from California Lutheran and Whittier College as he enters into his senior season. Having a very productive Junior season, he showed terrific natural instincts and ball skills while being a very sound tackler in space and continuously playing a lot bigger than he is. An effective and timely blitzer off the edge, he is a strong tackler between the tackles and had good overall long speed and closes quickly while also being effective on special teams while covering. A high motor player, Gerstein will contribute at the college level and has the ability and athleticism to convert to safety at the next level.
RB/LB Dylan Smith Dylan Smith 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL Carlsbad | 2021 State CA 5’9″ 185 Ibs., Vintage HS
A two-way starter for a very successful program, Smith is a downhill physical player that shows a strong initial burst at the first level and runs with good pad level and a natural forward lean while in traffic. Having a strong and compact build, he is well developed physically with the ability to bounce off ankle/arm tackles with good body control and balance, Smith is also productive on the defensive side of the ball from his linebacker position coming off the edge and playing inside the tackles. Smith displays his ability to get off blocks and is a high effort player with good overall lateral speed and should get a shot to make an impact at the next level over his next two years at the high school level.
OL/DL Josh Lemley 6’6″ 240 Ibs., Cloverdale HS
The Cloverdale High School product is an intriguing player with good upside due to his frame and overall length at the tackle position. Coming off a solid Junior season, Lemley displayed good movement ability for his size and did a good job at using his length to keep blockers away from his body while keeping inside hand placement and gap control at the point of attack. From his tackle position, he was effective in pass pro while showing good well timed punches accurate strikes while keeping defenders in front of him. Still a very raw and developing player, his combination of size and length projects him on the offensive side of the ball at the next level with enough athleticism and movement ability to play offensive tackle.
