Here are five players from the Class of 2021 Class 3A Ranks who finished among the state tackle leaders.
LB, Ryley Besler, 5’11”, 200, Perry-Lecompton – Besler led Perry-Lecompton in tackles with 147 tackles. He plays well against the pass as he also finished with six pass breakups in 2020. Besler is a ball-hawk as he recovered three fumbles and finished with 5.5 sacks. Besler is currently uncommitted.
LB, Doug Grider Doug Grider 6'2" | 230 lbs | LB Halstead | 2021 State KS , 6’2”, 230, Halstead – Grider finished his 2020 season for the Dragons with 120 tackles. The senior linebacker also had two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Grider has yet to commit and will be playing for the West Squad in the 2021 Kansas Shrine Bowl.
LB, Hayden Robb Hayden Robb 5'11" | 220 lbs | LB Perry Lecompton | 2021 State KS , 5’11”, 220, Perry-Lecompton – Robb amassed 139 tackles and was a turnover machine with an interception and four forced fumbles. The Kaws had a dangerous defense in 2020 and Robb was always in the thick of plays. The Kaw senior is still uncommitted and will be playing for the East Squad in the 2021 Kansas Shrine Bowl.
LB, McClain Weekley, 5’10”, 180, Santa Fe Trail – Weekley played free safety for Santa Fe Trail and finished with 119 tackles during his senior season. He is not afraid to hit people regardless if he is on offense or defense. Weekley also plays fullback on offense. He would contribute right away to a JUCO program.
LB, Bryce Winsor, 6’0”, 195, Pratt – Winsor is a skilled linebacker. He racked up 93 tackles in his senior season with the Greenbacks. He is very fast and was an honorable mention, All-State player. Winsor is quite the Blitzer and can captain a defensive unit. Winsor has committed to play at Fort Hays State University.
