In total, more than 30 prep standouts from that section of the state dotted our list for the classification. In this six-part series, we’re going to break down every single one of them.
If you’ve got a need, we’re here to tell you how to fill it. Every position is represented, often two or three times over (if not more).
This is your recruiting road map to the Lowcountry for the Class of 2022.
Carson Arnold Carson Arnold 6'4" | 225 lbs | LB Oceanside Collegiate Academy | 2022 State SCSCHOOL: Oceanside Collegiate
POSITION: Linebacker
ANALYSIS: Arnold had 65 tackles, eight TFL for five sacks – and that was just during the regular season. Soon, everyone will know why he is one of coach Joe Call’s favorite players.
Joseph Robinson Joseph Robinson 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Ridgeland-Hardeeville | 2022 State SCSCHOOL: Ridgeland-Hardeville
POSITION: Running back
ANALYSIS: Since the Panthers didn’t play in 2020, Robinson is a bit of an enigma in many ways. But when he returns to the field, we may see a tailback possessed.
Lyndon Glover Lyndon Glover 5'10" | 280 lbs | OL Calhoun County | 2022 State SCSCHOOL: Calhoun County
POSITION: Offensive line
ANALYSIS: The Saints left guard is a few inches of height away from getting more attention. But he’s already got the handwork portion of the game down.
Des Loring Des Loring 5'8" | 180 lbs | RB Wando | 2022 State SCSCHOOL: Wando
POSITION: Running back
ANALYSIS: The 5-foot-8, 180-pound tailback put up 85 percent of the teams rushing yardage last season while adding another 250 receiving yards. In total he scored 11 touchdowns.
Roan Shawver Roan Shawver 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Oceanside Collegiate Academy | 2022 State SCSCHOOL: Oceanside Collegiate
POSITION: Defensive back
ANALYSIS: Shawver shifts seamlessly between linebacker and safety, frequently from one play to the next. That’s due to his ability to meet ball carriers head on or drop into coverage.
Gage Lewis Gage Lewis 6'0" | 165 lbs | K Summerville | 2022 State SCSCHOOL: Summerville
POSITION: Kicker
ANALYSIS: Lewis, who is 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, was the lone Green Wave player to score in every game during the 2020 campaign. He’s consistent and dependable.
