One of Southern California’s top available prospects after the early signing day announced his commitment on Christmas day.
Defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id="25058" first="Victory" last="Vaka"] from Westlake (Westlake Village) committed to Colorado last Friday.
He is one of the biggest defensive linemen in the country at 350 pounds and dominates interior offensive linemen in the running game.
Many college scouts think that Vaka will need to drop 30 pounds or so to be able to regain some speed and play at his highest level. If he can keep his weight in check, he has the ability and heart to be a multi-year starter for the Buffaloes.
Vanderbilt and BYU pushed hard for Vaka in recent weeks but Colorado put the full-court press on him. Colorado’s defensive line coach Chris Wilson, defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin and quality control coach Junior Tanuvasa all spent time personally recruiting Vaka and he made the Christmas commitment.
Vaka is the sixth player from California in Colorado’s 2021 recruiting class, three of which have already signed letters of intent. He joins [player_tooltip player_id="25143" first="Kaylin" last="Moore"] as the second athlete from Westlake Village in Colorado’s recruiting class. Moore attends Oaks Christian High, Westlake’s rival.
