Today we take a look at the top offensive linemen in the state with some changes since our off-season update.
- Thornton Gentry Thornton Gentry 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Chapin | 2021 State SC , Chapin, 6’4, 282
There is no doubt that the best lineman in the state is Gentry with his dominating from his left tackle position. He can pull and get out in space as well as seal block and down block very well. He even showed great athleticism with a screen pass he caught for a touchdown against Mid Carolina. Gentry is committed to NC State.
- Jaydon Collins Jaydon Collins 6'6" | 275 lbs | OL Greer | 2021 State SC , Greer, 6’6, 275
The top offensive tackle in the state is the dominant left tackle from Greer. Collins will need to bulk up a little bit for the next level but he has great size, length, and moves very well. He is verbally committed to Wake Forest and picked the Demon Deacons over offers from Boston College, App State, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Liberty, Louisville, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Tennessee, West Virginia, among others.
- Jayden Ramsey Jayden Ramsey 6'6" | 235 lbs | OL Westside | 2021 State SC , Westside, 6’6, 235
Ramsey, like the two rated above him, will need to redshirt but look for him to need a couple years to develop and put on the weight that he will need to fulfill his potential. He has played tight end and linebacker as well for Westside so he will now finally become a full-time offensive lineman in college. Ramsey is committed to App State where he can become a star once he puts on the weight and gets stronger.
- Kenneth Walton Kenneth Walton 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Lamar | 2021 State SC , Lamar, 6’4, 300
This Lamar standout is a left tackle that projects to guard in college because he is a strong, nasty blocker who finishes blocks well. He can play either side of the line very well and potentially could be someone who is able to play any spot on the line. Walton is committed to Coastal Carolina where they definitely could use his size and he should be able to contribute early on in his career.
- Trevor Timmons Trevor Timmons 6'2" | 275 lbs | OL Blythewood | 2021 State SC , Blythewood, 6’2, 275
Here is the first change since the off-season where we have moved Timmons up to #5 on the list. Timmons is a first-team All-Region selection who committed to Charlotte during the fall. He is a little undersized and will have to bulk up but he is athletic and moves very well with the frame to bulk up. Timmons is also raw in his technique but he is a tough player with a nasty mentality so he is someone that coaches believe they can develop into a very good player in a couple years.
