The Silver Foxes have won five straight Class 5A state championships – all since the state split into five divisions – and coach Tom Knotts has succeeded in sending productive players to the next level.
Here are four who are being looked at before the 2021 recruiting window shifts to the next season.
TRAVIS BATTS, DL
At 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, Batts’ influence was going to be felt. Sure enough, he put up 42 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. This was among the best defenses in the state, and it all started up front.
Trace Danley Trace Danley 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Dutch Fork | 2021 State SC , DB
Danley is being projected all over the map in college because he’s 6-feet and 170 pounds and can play a safety or cornerback position with ease. This fall, he had 45.5 tackles and a couple of picks.
RYAN STEWART, DB
Stewart’s opportunism was best seen this fall in a second-round win over Carolina Forest when he picked off two passes in what was easily the most contested game of the Silver Foxes’ season. The rangy safety has that type of college potential, too.
Shammond Price Shammond Price 6'2" | 280 lbs | OL Dutch Fork | 2021 State SC , OL
Dutch Fork broke in a new quarterback, a new tailback and a new big-time receiver. And yet, the offensive didn’t miss a beat. Price’s play at guard was a big reason why. The Silver Foxes put up 4,100 yards of offense in 10 games.
