Southwest Prairie Conference: Top Scorers - East Division

Today we will be taking a look at the Top Scorers heading into this season for the Southwest Prairie Conference East Division. The East Division has six teams: Joliet Central, Joliet West, Plainfield Central, Plainfield East, Plainfield South, and Romeoville. <hr /> Joliet Central: Carl Bew - Bew is apart of the class of 2023, he is a solid QB and started his freshman year on JV. Bew has shown glimpses of playmaking abilities during his time on JV and runs the read-option. He has arm talent that needs further development and has shown glimpses of his potential with his time on JV. He's a name to keep an eye on during these next few years. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/athlete/12879078 Joliet West: James Zilinger - Zilinger is apart of the class of 2021 who plays WR/RB, he has fast feet which help him get past press coverage. He has nice jump cuts which paired with his elusive/shifty play and speed creates a deadly mix. Zilinger also reads blocks well and fights for every yard not allowing arm tackles to bring him down. Overall, Zilinger is a solid player for Joliet West who is a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball that they can rely on game in and game out. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/9684064 Brenden McGee - McGee is apart of the class of 2021 who plays QB, he can throw on the run and make throws in tight windows. He has the ability to pull the ball down and scramble when the pocket collapses with his speed. McGee commands Joliet West's offensive unit. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/9571845 Plainfield Central: Jacob Vassalla - Vassalla is apart of the class of 2021 who plays WR, he adjusts to the ball last-second catching back-shoulder throws. He has good use of his hands when being pressed out of the slot and is a deep threat with his speed where he also makes contested catches. Vassalla has nice speed cut ability which creates separation from defenders giving him a step advantage. Vassalla is a solid player all around who is going to play a vital role in Plainfield Central's offensive attack. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10585514 Chris Leto - Leto is apart of the class of 2021 who plays QB, he was awarded SPC All-Conference in 2019. He has solid footwork in the pocket and puts a nice zip on the deep ball. He can throw on the run and looks to do so when the pocket collapses and on a play-action bootleg play. As a last resort, Leto can pull the ball down and scramble for the first down if the pocket collapses and nothing is open downfield. Leto is at the helm of Plainfield Central's offense and possesses the abilities to do so at the next level. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11132400 Plainfield East: Connor Bright - Bright is apart of the class of 2021 who plays WR, he catches the ball and gets upfield with his quickness. He runs a nasty 9 route, topped with his solid breaks at the top of his routes and quick release pose problems for opposing defenders. Bright makes contested catches, works back to the ball, and blocks downfield. Bright is a solid player who has the talent to play at the next level and is one of a few playmakers on Plainfield East's offense. He catches and gets upfield in the passing attack, he's an N/S runner who runs defenders over and hits running lanes hard. Washington has quick acceleration who reads blocks well and is a downhill runner. Washington is a solid player who has the ability to play at the next level and looks to build upon last season's stats. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10553764 Brett Winiecki -Winiecki is apart of the class of 2021 who plays QB, he's fast with quick acceleration. He has a nice touch on the deep ball and can put zip on the ball for short/intermediate throws. Winiecki is elusive when scrambling causing defenders to miss and fights for every yard when doing so. He has the ability to make level one throws on deep balls and looks to command Plainfield East's offensive unit for another season. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11472172 Plainfield South: Nicholas Schultz - Schultz is apart of the class of 2021 who plays QB, he is fast with quick acceleration and has solid footwork on his dropbacks. He has a nice touch on the deep ball where he puts the ball in the WR basket and stays in the pocket under pressure to get the pass off. Schultz is at the helm of Plainfield South's offense and can be considered a dual-threat QB by getting it done in the passing game and the ground game with his elusiveness. He is more of a catching TE who has solid hands and can make contested catches. He possesses the ability to block on the line and keeps his feet turning when doing so. Unyi is a solid player for Plainfield South is a deep threat who goes up and gets the ball. He has a quick dropback and fights for extra yards when scrambling. Matson is more of a scramble QB over a pocket passer and gets the job done for Romeoville's offense. He needs to develop further and has the potential to be a household name for Romeoville's football team.
