Now in the state’s smallest classification, the Sabres punched all the way through.
Michael Sonneborn’s team blew past Lake View 46-6, winning yet another game by a lopsided margin. It was par for Southside Christian’s course this season, as the Sabres won every game by double digits.
Saturday, it happened because of these players.
Zac Zivitski Zac Zivitski 6'1" | 230 lbs | DL Southside Christian | 2021 State SC , LINEBACKER
Lake View had just four first downs in the entire game, and Zivitski was huge in that endeavor. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound senior had nine tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack. It left him as the team’s leading tackler this year.
CHARLIE HAROF, STRONG SAFETY/RUNNING BACK
Harof picked off a pass and had five total tackles against the Wild Gators. He was just as effective on the other side of the ball, too. He finished the game with seven carries for 41 yards and a first-quarter touchdown.
SHANE GALLAGHER, RECEIVER
The 6-foot, 170-pound wideout had four receptions for 67 yards and a score. That touchdown came in the third quarter and proved that Southside Christian wasn’t going to let off the gas after racing out to a 26-0 halftime lead.
JA’COREY MARTIN, QUARTERBACK
Martin’s 97 rushing yards were a nice boon, and it actually led the team in the championship game. But once again, his arm proved invaluable. He was 11-of-14 for 148 yards and threw four touchdowns, one in each quarter.
