Starting off, the Jaguars are led by junior quarterback Oscar Gordon III, who has 1,077 passing yards and 15 touchdowns with five interceptions. He has also rushed for 326 yards and six touchdowns. Recently, Gordon threw for 221 yards and five touchdowns with one interception in a playoff contest against Alice. However, he somewhat struggled against Calallen, throwing for only 70 yards but scored two touchdowns through the air and on the ground, so he did not struggle to score. In the past two games, Gordon has scored seven touchdowns through the air, making him such a scoring threat against Lindale.
LBJ Austin has a two running-back system with two athletes of great talent backing up Gordon. In no particular order, firstly senior Daqwon Donaldson has 742 rushing yards for 11 touchdowns on the season while sophomore Sedrick Alexander has 764 yards and nine touchdowns. Both backs have done work this season and it is hard to stop such a duo because if one back happens to struggle, the other back likely will not.
In the receiving game, both senior Latrell McCutchin Latrell McCutchin 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB LBJ | 2021 State TX and senior Andrew Mukuba Andrew Mukuba 6'0" | 195 lbs | DB LBJ | 2021 State TX are the main leaders of the receiving corps. McCutchin has 20 receptions for 325 yards and five touchdowns while Mukuba has 24 receptions for 423 yards and five touchdowns. A third receiver who really stands out, junior Danny Davis Danny Davis 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH LBJ | 2021 TX , has 263 yards and four touchdowns and the longest reception this season of 78 yards.
Mukuba has also done some work defensively as he has the most interceptions on the team with four this season. He also has forced two fumbles and has two fumble recoveries. McCutchin is ironically right behind him with two interceptions and a forced fumble. Senior defensive back Jaikeam Maxwell has been the tackle machine with 59 total tackles including five tackles for a loss.
