Once the date is announced, Langston Hughes will take on Buford High School. Each of these schools have not only had successful seasons to this point, but each of these teams have only suffered one loss so far this season. With this being said, neither team will be looking to suffer its second loss of the year, especially considering the circumstances.
Buford football, who has been blowing out teams the entire season, has been performing at a very high level. While the team only lost against North Cobb in the beginning of the season, they have been on an absolute warpath ever since, as they have not allowed more than 10 points a game. The team has had all around success, as players such as Gabe Ervin Gabe Ervin 6'1" | 190 lbs | RB Buford | 2021 State GA , and Victor Venn have each been successful toting the rock, while Malik Williams Malik Williams 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Buford | 2021 State GA and Jake Pope Jake Pope 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Buford | 2022 State GA have also contributed as WR’s. With this, their defense, which features Tommy Beuglas, and Amari Wansley Amari Wansley 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Buford | 2021 State GA , have also been key to the team’s success. Due to the fact that this team is so well rounded, they are easily one of the favorites to win it all within 6A football.
On the other hand, Langston Hughes football has been heating up even more over the past few weeks, and they are looking to put a stop to Buford’s stellar season. While Hughes’ defense has played at a high level all season, their offense has recently started to perform at a even higher level as well, as they have put up 49, 45, and 35 points within 3 of their last 4 games. If this isn’t impressive, the fact that they are finding a balance between their great offensive and defensive play certainly will. In the end, if the team plays up to par, players such as Antonio Martin Antonio Martin 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Langston Hughes | 2022 State GA , Gannon Weathersby Gannon Weathersby 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Langston Hughes | 2023 State GA , Charles Arnold Jr., and Rodney Shelley will all be key factors to the team’s success in their biggest challenge of the season. If they can manage to pull of the win, look for them to have a shot at winning it all this season.
